OK, I am new to this dvd ripping game..
so far I gotten myself as far..
    using.
1: super ripper.. didnt like it.. deleted..
2: Fairuse- didnt like it - deleted..
3: Decrypter.. It has worked.. keep it..
    now..

I have these VOD files.. I use my power dvd.. they play it.. great. well.. now this is what I am after..

I have a dvd of my childs birthday which someone made for me..

why cant you just rip a dvd from the drive to the hard drive straight away!?? why is it so complicated
    rip, encode, shrink, blar blar..
all I want to do is. rip it to my HDD. so I can double click on it and watch it. just like all my other movies I have..
I dont mind going through a process if thats where we are in dvd technology for copying, backing up films..

please can someone tell me.. how can I just
rip a dvd to an MPEG file with one program and one click of a button..
or show me the forum page..
I tried a search but nothing really answering me..

You should have no problem doing this through Windows Explorer for your kid's birthday video. The whole bit about decrypting and compressing is for factory DVD movies which are encrypted and often too large to fit on a blank DVD. Try dragging and dropping the birthdat video to wherever you want it on your hard drive.

I already tried that. that was the first thing I tried.
it doesnt show anything in the E:/ when you open it..
    you can only play it.

I have been using DVD Decrypter - but its weird man.
it makes the VOB files. when I dit d it yesterday I could play them in the DVD 5.0 but when I deleted the vob and tried to rip again. it wouldnt let me play this time.. and njow I am trying to do a
DVD - AVI in a program. which is kinda working..
firts time there was no sound. with one of the programs I used., and this time it worked with a little less quality. I have installed, deleted, tried so many programs.. hahahhaa been at it for 12 hours.
man someone really needs to invent a program which can do all tasks with one click of a button..
    this is just crazy...

Once you have copied the DVD movie to your hard drive, you can use UltraISO to make them into an ISO image. Once that is complete (Very fast) you can use an Virtual DVD/CD drive to watch the movie from the hard drive, or burn them to a DVD.

Using the UltraISO is very easy, and makes watching movies on the computer a snap. The Virtual drive will play them just like if it was the original DVD. You can also use UltraISO to copy the DVD to the hard drive. But you will need big hard drive if you plan on keeping very many movies like that. As doing this will not shrink the DVD file down any at all. So a 7.32 gig DVD will produce a 7.32 gig file. (This will not work in a FAT-32 file system.)

I forgot to mention! There are many other programs that will work, But unless you pirate them, they will cost you an arm and a leg to buy them all.

I really like Alcohol 120%. 1Click DVD Copy, CloneDVD, CloneDVD2 (These are two different programs, by two different companies)

It seams that no one has ever heard about 1Click DVD Copy, But I think it is the best and fastest one and it is without a doubt the simplest.

Most programs for copying DVD movies will give you a free trial. A couple give you 30 days of unlimited use. (You could backup a hundred DVD movies with a free trial.) So try several of them, and pick the one that works best for what you want.

you should have more than vob files...ifo and bup files as well..don't understand why you're having problems watching VOB files...do you have PowerDVD? i never use win media to watch dvd's..hardly ever watch 'em on my computer anyway...there's no need to rip..you can copy your VIDEO_TS folder to your hdd because it's not encrypted...then with powerdvd open the VIDEO_TS file..it'll play without a hitch...also, you can't rip to an mpeg...that's a conversion...you need another program like dvd2svcd.

To see what your DVD contains... Right click on it and select "Explore" and you will see what you have but I'm pretty sure it is a compilation of regular DVD files, you know, IFOs, VOBs...

Use DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter to copy to your HD and watch from there using PowerDVD

    Enjoy
