I recently bought the new Foo Fighters CD, and well it’s copy protected. And when I imported it to my itunes, and when I play a song, it’s sounds, well crappy & staticy... Is there any way that you can bypass the copyright protection thing? p.s if there is thread about this already, sorry, I’m new to these forums, and I’m like in a rush so yeah… =/
thats a good way to get people pissed off man, don't be lazy. people take time to come and help others here, the least you could do is take 30 seconds to use the search function. had you looked at the audio forum page, the top sticky is a thread on how to rip copy protected CDs. use EAC and follow the instructions http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/70597
And someone already made a thread about this yesterday. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/208380 All you had to do was look a few posts down and you would of found it.
I've downloaded EAC and followed all the instructions, but when I start extracting the audio filles, it says there is a "sync error". What do I do?
Try "Burst Mode" in EAC. It's not generally recommended but sometimes it's the only way to get round the copy protections.
First of all, I'm posting this because Copy Protection is useless and ineffective for anyone who has an Internet connection. I never use CDs. I buy them, rip/encode them, and then listen on a variety of different MP3 players...(just like you guys). Anyway, I read through the recommended posts and none of them were effective on this CD so I thought I'd post this note I found regarding the particular copy protection used on Foo Fighters CD and how to defeat it: Start with a Windows 2000/XP system with empty CD drives. Click the Start button and select Control Panel from the Start Menu. Double-click on the System control panel icon. Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button. Configure Device Manager by clicking "Show hidden devices" and "Devices by connection," both from the View menu. Insert the Anthony Hamilton CD into the computer and allow the SunnComm software to start. If MediaMax has never been started before on the same computer, the SbcpHid driver should appear on the list for the first time. However, on some systems Windows needs to be rebooted before the driver becomes visible. At this point you can attempt to copy tracks from the CD with applications like MusicMatch Jukebox or Windows Media Player. Copies made while the driver is active will sound badly garbled{snip} Next, follow these additional steps to disable MediaMax: Select the SbcpHid driver from the Device Manager list and click "Properties" from the Action Menu. Click the Driver tab and click the Stop button to disable the driver. Set the Startup Type to "Disabled" using the dropdown list. With the driver stopped, you can verify that the same applications copy every track successfully. Setting the Startup Type to disabled prevents MediaMax from restarting when the computer is rebooted. It will remain deactivated until LaunchCD.exe is allowed to run again. Equivalently, executing the following commands from the Command Prompt will deactivate MediaMax: net stop sbcphid del %systemroot%\system32\drivers\sbcphid.sys This came from: http://www.cs.princeton.edu/~jhalderm/cd3/ Good luck and enjoy your music the way you want it!
Omg!!! Thanks soo very very much! It finnaly works on my itunes!!! This actually worked and i didn't even have to download use EAC (downloading EAC was kind of pointless because it didn't help at all). Thanks again AnklBytr for the information and help.
If you have "autorun" disabled for your CD/DVD drives, then the copy "protection" won't work, and you can rip in any format you want with ease. Everyone should have autorun disabled anyway to prevent unauthorized (i.e. viral or malware) programs from launching without your knowledge when you put a CD in your drive. See this link to learn how to disable autorun; it's easy: http://features.engadget.com/entry/4115667344500767/ This prevents SunnComm's malware/spyware drivers from getting on your computer in the first place, so you don't have to worry about disabling them. Good luck.
very true, that is the easiest way to disable copy protection, but note that that does not work for all copy protected CDs, only certain types. There are several different copy protections floating around, and for some the only way to get around them is to rip them to wav in EAC then burn
