i had this 2wire wireless router for almost a year now, and for the past few days my laptop just wouldn't pick the signal no matter how many time i refresh it. most of the time i plug the router to my desktop all day and night and occasionly my sister would used her laptop and connect it to the net. sometime when my laptop is not picking up the signal i can usually help it by turn off and turn on the router. but it doesn't work for the past few days. i even turn on and off couple time. all i see on my wireless network connection screen is my neighbor's sercured link but not mine. anyone know why. i can still use it in my desktop (it is plug in throught a ethernet port). someone help me?
Was your wireless network protected by WEP/WAP? If not, the one of your neighbors may be having a little bit of fun with your router. Check the router settings and make sure that the SSID boradcast is set to Enabled and that the radio is turned on. You may also want to check that the antenna is securely attached and has not worked itself loose over time. ~Rich
If it worked before and you could fix it by powering on and off your router ... I think your router is dying (at least the wireless part of it). I had to replace my Linksys G w/ speedbooster. It ran like a champ for probably a year, then I started having signal drops, then I would have to repair the wireless connection ... then I would have to completely power everything down for a few minutes. Finally just went out and got a wireless N router and all is good again.
