Why is TMPGenc always recommended (vs Ulead video studio)?

    Hi

When making home video DVDs I used to always convert my AVI files using TMPGenc and then TMPGenc DVD author to make the DVD. Recently I did a few DVDs for friends and just used Ulead video studio7 as it is quicker (does the TMPGenc and DVD author process in one go plus has sexier features than TMPGenc DVD author).

The quality of the DVDs I did for my friends was fine. I can't pick the difference in quality to any other DVDs I have done using the TMPGenc process, so why do I feel the need (from reading many many posts and websites) to use the TMPGenc process to get the best quality? Any downside to the uleadvideo studio proggie that anyone knows of?
