This is driving me f-in nuts! , ive succesfully joined all my skate footage into one mpeg file. the file plays fine on my media player, but when i try and open the same exact file in any kind of video editing program it will only play the first little section of the entire mpeg file?? ive tried using, VirtualDubmod, fastmovie proccessor, windows movie maker, vegas, video mach, and even when i run it threw TMPGnc it screws up. i know for a fact that they are all teh same frame rate and frame size because i went threw each one, one by one and ran them threw VirtualDubmod to edit the section the way i wanted, but when i join them to make one movie clip no editing program will play it??? whats going on??
run your file through avicodec and see if that program can find an issue .Re convert your mpeg file to mpeg2 with divx to dvd, if when you load it in this program it may come up with an error that will explain that something is a miss when you joined them.
If it only reads the First Little Part then it sounds like your Files were not properly Joined (The Part it reads is Probably the First Clip in the File)... Make sure you used a Proper Mpeg editor to Join all of your Mpeg files... What program did you use to edit and Save your Mpeg files???
i used VirtualDubMod to edit them, they were converted to avi. Then i ran each clip threw TEMPGnc to convert then all to matching Mpeg files, then i used Mpgjoin to connect all of them together. after they were successfully joined , the new joined file played just fine all the way threw with no problem. When i try and put the joined clip Back onto VirtualDubmod or any other video editing program to add music in the background its screws up and sees the the very first clip as the entire file??? Ive tried Vegas4.0, Vegas6.0, Windows movie maker, VirtualDubMod, Fast movie proccessor and Video mach , they all do the exact same thing. Any ideas? Ive got to be overlooking somthing.
Well It does sound like the Files were Improperly Joined, But you Might be able to fix it... There is a Mpeg editing program Called "Womble Mpeg2VCR" that has a Feature called "GOP Fixer" which can Fix Improper Joins and Fix Audio and Video Time Code errors and the such... You can try running your Mpeg file through this tool and see if it fixes the Problem...If it doesn"t you can use it to Re-Join all of your Mpeg files as it is One of the Better Mpeg Editors you can get and Far more reliable than Tmpgenc"s "Merge And Cut" which is Buggy as hell ..... Good luck
