Apologies if this is a dumb question but why does my DVD RW drive only burn in Nero at 2x (on DVDR) when the drive spec shows 4x (RW) and 8x(R). The "supported drives" page at Nero's site lists the drive but states burn speed of 2.4 ..... which I guess is close to what I'm getting. The drive is a SONY DW-Q120A. Is there anything I could/should do ?
the reason why could be two fold..... one is the disk itself.... it may only let you burn to the highest speed of the disk.... so if it's a 2.4X RW disk that's the maxium it will burn. the other reason would be your drive and your drive can burn an RW up to 8x..... so it's the disk itself. here is your drive: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters...om=&bdrom=&orderby=Name&hits=50&Search=Search
So why does the Nero supported drives page actually state 2.4 as the write speed ? That infers it can't write any faster irrespective of the media being used. The media I was using was 4x max write speed but I was only getting 2x when writing.
maybe your drive and/or Nero doesn't like the disk you are using! I recommend you using a different disk. Try some Sony RW disks. That's a great brand of RW disks. also what is your firmware for your drive.... you can find this out in Nero InfoTool. the latest firmware should be PYS2 And what version of Nero are you using?
Believe it or not, they were Sony discs !!! I'll try the Nero Info Tool ..... thanks for that. Nero 6 is the software being used.
Just got back from mates house and mystery sorted ..... the DVD-RW was only a 2x Sony disc, not 4x !!! Tested it with a 4x disc and it burnt at 4x. Happy now ...... thanks for your help !
ahhhhhhhhhh so I was correct: and your responce to my reply was incorrect!: boy..... I thought I was talking in a different language!
Unfortunately, i was doing a lot of the "research" via email and I was assured the discs were 4x discs ...... if I'd known they were 2x I reckon I might just have worked it out !!!
for a min. there I thought I was going crazy! LOL so long as everything worked out! welcome to afterdawn
