I'm not sure if I've gotten a virus, spyware or just a rouge program, but my PC shuts down every night on it's own. I wake up the next morning and it has been completely shutdown!

The PC is extremely new and just started this recently which is the strange thing.

The PC is a HP Pavillion s3023w AMD Athlon with Vista Home Premium

Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening? If so thank you!

I think theres a better chance of the computer doing it itself. Like hibernation.. when the computer isnt used for a certain (selectable) amount of time it shuts down automatically. xp has the same feature in control panel -> power options. there will be something similar in a similar file path to change the amount of time it takes or to turn it off

If you haven't changed any XP system settings or BIOS settings which would cause that problem as kgtrain suggests, bad power supply or bad memory?

"completely shutdown" means no power, nothing on; not just in a sleep or resting mode?
