This is one of those questions that is very sensative. I downloaded a file and during the setup it ask me for the correct setup exe. and it prompted me to the files on my computer. How can I have setup exe. for a file I downloaded. I see some real good software in those file sharing sites but to be honest.....I jump through wayyyyyyyyyy to many hoops to only get disappointed. If I need a crash course please tell me where to go to get (file sharing rules for Dummies). I am not ashamed... I want to get this stuff. So if someone wants to have pity on me and wants to help out the unfortunate and disenfranchied. I am willing to listen.
This is a very strange question and I am having trouble translating it. Normally when you D/l a file it would be compressed either in .exe / .rar/ .zip. You would need a program to decompress the file. In there you should see the EXE you seek. If the compressed file Is already an Exe it should install automatically. -Del
I've got some software that didn't use install files. It was a zip or rar file that contained all the program files. I usually create a folder in my program files folder and extract all the files into that folder. That should work.
Yes you remind me of another. Some files will have a .ini that will do the installing. Right click that INI and hit install. It is very rare to run across this but you may. Also some downloads that may be updates will not have an EXE. In that case you are supposed to copy those files into the folder where the program lives. Usually in that case a read me of some sort comes with the files. -Del
Thanks to everyone that responeded. Evidently the exe. file that comes with the software has something missing. When I open the file it has a icon that looks like the setup are exe file. But it says ..."Status...Waiting for user and it has a Start or Cancel button. When I hit Start it prompts me to the C: drive to find the exe file. Which I have know idea where to look.
Just a note for the future. If you have winrar you can view a compressed EXE file to determine if there is a problem. -Del
Sorry you guys, this was a Winzip file. I have unzipped it and put it in my documents. I tried to install it from there. Nothing happened. You suggested I put it in the program files, I will. It has a Myth installer with it but evidently I don't know how to work it are its not working.
Ok, well their I go again typing the wrong things. I am going to only stick with the things I know which seems to be very little. I did not mean to put anything on the board thats against the rules. I apologize, Well I guess what I really need to do is learn alot more about Shareware sites and other forums so I can take advantage of the things that are out there. Is their a shareware 101 site lol. Peace and thanks again.
