hi all.thicko here.me and my lad have a ds each and we can play each other wirelessly."is this wi-fi".or do i have to get the adapter for the ds which you plug in.i have tried to connect to my router at home and i see some diagrams of laptops etc with a dongle hanging out of a usb socket to make it wireless.i also took my ds to a well known slop burger outlet and tried to connect to there wi-fi"do i need the dongle to use over the net"help me obi wan.......you're my only hope.
The Nintendo DS includes a built-in 802.11b WiFi card. As long as you have an access point that supports 802.11b, then you won't need anything else. You'll simply need to configure your DS with the proper WiFi settings to communicate with your access point. The DS only supports WEP encryption, so if you are trying to connect to your home router or a router at a coffee shop, you won't be able to if it is set to WPA or WPA2. In that case, you would need the dongle. Check your home router's security settings. I assume you have a router with a wireless access point....
