hello for the first time im going for ati vga card so im a litle confuse with the names and model. wich one is better: the 9800 series or the x600,x700 series?? let me know
I believe the "X" series is newer, hence more advanced, hence better. However if your plannin on buying a videocard, I suggest nVidia.
Hi doc, the best of this bunch is the X700 which is PCI-E so it won't fit in your mobo, the 9800 is AGP but last years tech so if you want X700 performance in AGP go for X800, 6600GT or 6800le and softmod it to 6800GT 'ish spec, also Nvidia cards have better driver surport ....hope this helps you out
THANX guys i´ll go for the 6600gt or maybe the 6800 yes jonni3 i heard that ati´s have serious issues with catalys drivers so ill stay with nvidia. tx a lot!!
Both of those cards are awesome) If the 6800 is in your budget then grab it!!!!! Make sure it's the 6800GT and not the 6800 vanilla, the 6600GT can keep up with the 6800 vanilla except when you max out the resolution(1600 by 1200) then that's where the 6800GT is in a class by itself.....Take care
Nice choice Doc, i have one of these and you won't be dissapointed just one thing use the 80.40 HD driver from Tweaksrus http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=127&Itemid=41 , belive me i've tried loads of drivers for this card & this is the best one without a doubt
