    Should be a no-brainer right?
But, I have found some films where the widescreen is 'matted' and covering film frame that is clearly visible top & bottom on the 4:3 transfer...
This has me bent out of shape, and comparing captures with PaintshopPro to see what is revealed/occluded.
    Re: IMAX transfers
Wouldn't that be great for traditional TVs/PC monitors?
A typically wide panavision transfer (2.35:1) on IMAX would be better for home video 4:3 - would it not?
Spielberg and others are wise, filming at 1.85:1 (SavingPrivateRyan) or even 1.77:1 (The Recruit). In fact, this makes better use of the inherent aspect ratio of the 35mm film!
Check out the Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery twin-transfer DVD yourself - I backed up the 4:3 transfer.
    Comments? :)
