Hey all, I have come across a new problem. I recently bought a new computer without window. I thought I can save some money buying it blank (formatted HD). Due to the fact that I already have window xp home edition. So I then install it, completed. After it ask me to put in cd key within 25 days. I did and It wouldn't accept it. It say the cd key is exceed. ????? I understand that software piracy is illegal. And I im not here to disrespect this forum. I just don't want to use the old junk comp anymore shouldn't I be able to used my window for my new comp??? or what if I reformatted, Can't I reinstall window. Any suggestion on this??? I dont think its fair at all, after all I baught the windowXP HE.....
Have you tried contacting Microsoft concerning your problem? If you have a legitimate copy you can run it on a single PC.
yeah, you need to call microsoft and they will give you a new code (same exact thing happened to me).
i didn't know there was a difference in xp copies. My copy is a few years old, and i was able to get a new activation code probably 6 months ago.
My advise to you is to contact Microsoft and tell them your situation thoroughly... I got my old xp home edition replaced for a new one... Hoped this helped
Great, thanks guys, always an answer here. I will try to get their phone number on microsoft.com and see how it goes. I'll update info here later in case some one has similar problem. btw my window xp HE is almost 3 years old. GG
Hey Are you also using this Windows XP Home Disc on another comptuer. The Windows XP discs are designed for a ONE comptuer licenece. Therefore you cannot install the Windows XP Home Edition disc that you have on another computer, with your new comptuer, using the same disc and serial number. Regards CoZZa
