I all of a sudden have this error when opening decrypter.
    DeviceIOcontrol (IOCTL_Storage_MCN_Control) Failed
    Device: [1:1:0] Memorex DVD+/-RW Dual -x1 1.05 (E:) (ATA)
Unable to disable media change notification
    Reason: The Parameter is incorrect

This happens when you open decrypter and it gives you the option to abort Retry and ignore then you can burn your movie.

When you exit out it says the same thing except it says
Unable to enable media change notification

I have tried removing both my Pioneer burner and Memorex burner and reinstalling them. I have updated the firmware on the Memorex to 1.07 and that did not help. I have unistalled Decrypter restarted computer reloaded Decrypter and that did not fix it. I have searched the boards and have not found anything that pertains to this specific error. I have ended all process's that might interfere and still same thing. It does not seem to affect the burning speed or burn except for once today which that is a given. I hope some one can help me out I might be forced to do a system restore. I also tried updating the drivers on both burners checking in device manager to see if they are set on ultra DMA that is good. It puzzles me I can rip a movie with DVD Shrink and not get these popping up but open decrypter and everytime this pops up it is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance for the help.

    2 questions.

1 - are these original titles, or backups you are trying to rip
2 - are these harddrive saved rips you are trying to burn to this media?

Maybe the media @ + is not a format recognized by your burners and they only recognize - media? Just a thought.

It is when I click on an ISO file to burn it gives this error or if you click on DVD Decrypter their does not even have to be a movie in either burner the Pioneer or the Memorex. This has got me stumped.

Have you tried changing to file mode, or do you specifically need ISO?

I don't think that would help because it does it just when you open it it by clicking on the icon.

Is this the last version before DVD Fab picked it up?

I had the same problem on my new computer. Launch DVD decrypter and just click ignore when the error message comes up. Then to stop it from happening again, click on tools - settings - device tab and then uncheck the "disable media change notification" box. I haven't ripped since making that change, but it stops the error message. I believe it just stops messages from popping up when you put a new disc in your drive. I'm no expert, but it did stop the error message.

I found a good description of the media change notification check box at:
    http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=51575&page=2

    Where is says:
    "Disable Media Change Notification
If enabled it stops the entire OS from knowing a disc has been inserted - only affects the currently selected drive. Useful for discs with 'Autorun' content and where a player would jump in and try to play the disc as DVD Decrypter is trying to initialise it."

So I don't think it's a problem to uncheck the box.

I burn 2 to 12 discs a day and have always used DVD Decrypter as my ISO burning software and then one day I got the same error. I thought that if I loaded updated ASPI drivers that it would work but it didn't. Then I started to think of what has changed since the last time I burned and the only thing I did was clicked on Windows Update in my start menu and updated some security settings and some drivers as well. Whatever the problem is, it occured after I did these updates.
Go through your Windows XP updates history and see if any of these were on your list. Maybe we can narrow down the culprit. But the 'Disable Media Change Notification' did work. This is very helpful considering that a lot of software that rips movies into ISO's out there automaticly will start up DVD Decrypter and start burning the ISO. I use both DVD Shrink and DVD Rebuilder and they both will parse DVD Decrypter to start burning the newly created ISO. Because of that error it could not complete automatically, you had to click ignore to proceed.

    The culprit HAS to be:

Windows XP Silicon Image, Inc. - Storage - Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATALink Controller

I get the same error, and that is the only update I installed. I am to assume that you are using a SATA burner?

No but I do have 3 SATA HDD's. There must be a conflicting driver that was installed in the process.

    I have the same problem.

    My config :

    Asus A8R32MVP DLXe MB
2x Maxtor SATA (w similar Silicon Image SiI 3132 SATALink Controller)
    1xCombo
    1xDVDRW
Win XP SP2, (problem occured on Linux also)

My system was highly unstable, crashed every now and than, had the problem with DeamonTools (crash, CPU usage skyrocket), DVD Shrink (crash), Decrypter (Crash), AutoGK (crash). SATA controller corrupted my 2nd HDD, DVDRW wouldn't work...

Now I unplugged my DVDRW and everything seems to work just fine (for now), but Decrypter started showing the same "media change notification" failure.

I blame nothing else bur damn buggy SiS SATA Controller.

I can bet it is that Silicon Image driver cause I have just updated that driver because my SATA disk started to act strangely lately!

I know tried to roll back the driver and am currently trying to burn a DVD... I don't know if it was said earlier in this forum but I also had the problem that it can't burn the dvds for more than around 3000kb/s. And I see know that is still the problem. Also, I can't listen to music in winamp at the same time because it take so much resources from my computer. The Device buffer is getting filled and emptied all the time while burning so a buring taks about 25min. This is bullshit!

I have now formatted and reinstalled my computer, but now I tried to install a personalized version of Windows 2003 Server. Called Windows 2003 eXPerience that can be found on torrent sites. I don't want to make people start using pirated software but this OS has integrated SATA drivers and my computers seems to like them. Though I have not burned any DVDs/CDs yet. But it is behaving correctly.

    Hope you find this useful!
