so i'm assuming you can configure wifi to work with it, but it just gives you an error of some sort? if so, what error code(s) do you get?

If you can't even connect to it in the configure mode, could you check to see which security settings you have put it on? Make sure its either unsecured (not recommended) or WEP encryption. WPA and above will NOT work with the DS

^ it will leave you unprotected as you will not have a Firewall. What you can do is have a software firewall set up instead.

The other option is what I am currently using with my Linksys router. Set up a DMZ in your 2wire (i'm not sure how to do this, you'll have to google it for 2wire). Basically what a DMZ is is that it leaves ONE ip address unprotected. In my case, its 10.1.1.6 I only have 3 computers on my network so theres no need for anything higher than 4 for any of my computers.

Once the DMZ is set up, manually enter the same settings into your DS. your ip address for your DS will be the one posted above, and you will have to figure out the gateway and everything

*Note: It may not be EXACTLY the same as above. Most routers come defaulted to 192.168.1.x.. so you may have it set up like this: 192.168.1.200 or something. Depends on how your network is

So DMZ will leave completely unprotected with my router firewall
So will my zonealarm software be enough to protect me

DMZ will only leave you unprotected on that specific IP address, so as long as your computer's IP address is not the one you set for DMZ, you will be OK.

Zonealarm is a pretty good firewall, I used it for years before getting a true router. It will protect you

your best bet is to simply do this

1 clear your routers log ( if active)
2 turn your routers logging to its most sensative
3 watch the log while trying to connect with the wifi
4 the log will show you what just tried to connect and if the packet was dropped.
5 use the port forwarding or rule creation to make a new rule for the wifi connections using the info from the log .then test again. if it doesnt connect you missed something reset your log and try again.

this is the best way to do something like this and keep your security intact.

fyi im using a linksys router, zone alarm and wifi
