Wifi objects needs another wifi object to connect.

Let me use an example of what I mean. My PS3 won't connect to the internet sometimes unless my laptop or my psp is connected or trying to connect to my internet and vice versa. It tends to get very annoying as I have to carry the PSP around and turn it on then access the internet to sign in on PS3 or use the internet on the laptop. I have DHCP server enabled and have even set up a static ip for the PS3 and there are still problems. My router is a WRT54GR, is it a firmware problem or something? Please help, this is very annoying.
