Due for release on 30/05/2008 in UK according to play.com .... which if true is a disgrace, though we are used to this kinda crap - thankfully we get to play the import while we wait :)

    hi guys,

i was wondering how to make multi-game gamecube discs, as the link in the initial post is screwed up, I think their website had some problems a while back. Could anyone provide a link for a good tutorial?

    Thanks : )

As for a new update beyond 1.9G for the Wiikey...

Does ANYONE even know if it is being worked on, or are we all needlessly waiting for nothing?

I would rather know now that the Wiikey team is DOA and that we all need to get a kill switch or look at another mod chip.

What's the word out there folks???

So, what is the update on the new wii firmware that came out almost yesterday, since I heard that it doesn't let you play traucha center or freeloader backups. Are there any confirmations of this, or any other problems that have been discovered from this new update?

hiya..our wii quit playing backup disks sometime yesterday .. we have not manualy hit any updates, but we did have our wii set on wii conect24 hmm we had no isea what that was tbh

from reading the boards we think we recieved the wii update to stop the backup discs from working .. arghhh!

either that or our wiikey quit working ..

anyone have any info on how we can fix this so we can continue to enjoy playable backups?

I didn't see anywhere in the info I've read that backups are disabled.

Until the system menu is updated to use IOS37, it will have no effect.
Once the system menu is updated to use IOS37, "Trucha-Signed" discs - or channels - will stop working, as will the Freeloader disc.
At that point, "homebrew channels" would be considered "invalid" by the system. The consequences of this are unclear, but that could potentially prevent the Wii from booting.
Other versions of IOS are not affected.
    The Twilight Hack is unaffected.

    Hey everyone,

I'm not sure if anyone has already seen it, but while I was browsing the web, I found this. It's called the Wii Duplicate Channel Remover, and you can probably guess what it does from the name ; )

I'm not sure if it works as I haven't got any duplicate channels, but I thought I'd post it here so people could have a look. I think it is only for PAL Wiis, but i'm not sure.

Or a direct link, although I suggest reading up on it before downloading.

Btw, I did not create this, and am not responsible for anything at all that involves this software. I just thought it looked interesting.
    ; )

Hey guys, i am new to posting and to modification of the wii. About 2 months ago i bought a wii from craigslist that was modded with the wii key. Plays fine with all the games i have even with super mario galaxy. I recently purchased Super Smash bros on its released date and at first it did not let me play it. I guess after an update it allowed me to play then come to realize that no back up gc or wii game now works. Please can somebody help me on this issue. I dont know what kind of wii key with what update i have. The guy i bough it from gave me wiikey utilities cd, wiikey 1.3 setup disc, and a wiikey setup disc 1.2 and neither and of discs work.. please help thanks

The fact that the Original SSBB disc works abd all the other backups do not seem to indicate a non-functional Wiikey. Maybe the chip died, or possibly the soldering broke.

Did you move/tansport/shake your Wii before the problem?

    As reported:

www.wiikey.cn is back up and it looks like some 'authorized' resellers have received sample chips with a new firmware for test purposes.

It appears that the Wiikey team might have good news for us.

Wii firmware IOS37 update was released on March 22 as reported by Wiibrew.

It appears that the update is designed to disable hacks and exploits that allow running homebrew material.

This firmware update has nothing to do with modchips or games. If you plan on using any of homebrew material, such as the "Homebrew Channel" hack, games modified with Trucha Signer, or Datel's Free Loader DO NOT UPDATE YOUR WII!!!

I actually did not shake the wii. It seems like the wii plays all the original games and not the back-ups. I think the firmware was changed from the update when i put SSBB in. Before inserting the game the wii did play the back-up games.

You said that you played an original SSBB disc. Now, if have a Wiikey and the Wiikey was working, you should not have been able to run the original SSBB. The wiikey can play a backup of SSBB, but not the original.

(ModChipCentral has confirmed that the new update works with original SSBB)

It looks like the update will be released sometime tomorrow.

Hi all, I am deperate in need of help here after searching through countless forums and pages of Google search. I have decided to post here as I find this forum having a more consistent and detailed solutions to problem posted here.

I have the same Wii problem like anyone else, not able to read any backups and only 2 weeks after updating to 1.9G. Here is my story....

    Firmware Update to 1.9g
    - Filechopped wiikey 1.9g update
    - Burnt using ImgBurn into Sony DVD-RW
    - Updated firmware successfully
    - Able to play SMG for like two weeks

    2 weeks later
    - Powered on Wii with Zelda: TP in it
    - LCD tv shows start up screen and suddenly went back to main menu
    - Attempt to re-start Zelda but receive disc read error instead
    - Same goes for my remaining backup discs :(

    Attempts to recover
After reading through forums including this one, i gather that the only path available for my Wii is to recover using 1.9b recovery disc. There are many versions on the steps to take to have a successful recovery and I attempted most of them as follows:

    - Burnt 1.9b recovery, no filechop, to Verbatim DVD-R @ 1x
    - Burnt 1.9b recovery, filechop, to Verbatim-R @ 1x
    - Burnt 1.9b recovery, no filechop, to Verbatim-R @ 4x
    - Burnt 1.9b recovery, filechop, to Verbatim-R @ 4x
    - Burnt 1.9b recovery, filechop & GCOS, to Verbatim-R @ 4x

    - Start up the wii using original disc, put in the recovery disc and reset, wait for 5-8 mins before power off and on the wii.
    - Start up the wii, go into the disc menu to see the disc read error, put in the recovery disc and reset, wait for 5-8 mins before power off and on the wii.
    - Start up the wii, put in the recovery disc and reset, wait for 5-8 mins until the GC screen comes on before power off and on the wii.

I have attempted the above but to no avail. Am I missing anything?

no update has stopped backups from working save the wiikey setup disc. if your wii connect24 was on for an extended period of time, i can offer this:

if the wii or wiikey is especially hot (computers/gpus are similar) the wii may not be able to read the disks. turn off your wiiconnect24 and try letting it cool down a bit (about 30 min would do it). then reinsert the disc and try again. make sure the wii is in a cool, well-ventilated area. for some reason, the wii gets very hot over time while its on wiiconnect24 standby.
