I had successfully installed a WiiKey and burned and played a few games. Then had Read DRE codes for the newer games. I know that I had to update the Wiikey and was unable to - don't know why.....so decided to ge the D2 Pro Solderless Chip.....couldn't put it in b/c I had ordered a new PCB board and it had the new epoxy on it. Tried to remove it and thought I did but then when the Clip went on - the DVD drive went dead. Took off the D2 Pro Chip and now am looking for the most updated PCB board pre- modded with the D2 Pro chip. Can anyone help? Have tons of games dumped and ready to burn...can't play them. ? 1 where in the US to get a premodded PCB board with a D2 Pro chip and ? 2 if I re -install the WiiKey - how to update it? I downloaded the update - but got DRE with it I am so close please - need some help.
You can get a modded drive from ModChipCentral possibly they are in Canada there is no US mod shops anymore that I'm aware of. You can also look into the FlatMii and possibly use it to update your drive. ** Always check your ISO's for updates and region before playing them with tools like Wiizle Diizle Shizzle v1.3 or other programs like RegionFrii and Wii BrickBlocker.
Can't upgrade Wiikey? Probably a clone. Buying a pre-modded drive is the easiest solution I can think of. If your previously Wiikey modded drive is still functional you can try buying an AUTHENTIC Wiikey then updates are not a problem.
Well I installed Homebrew thru HomebreWare , updated my Wii , without any problems. I can now play al Wii games, unlocked Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy (which is truly a fantastic game) and I did not void my warranty, this is why I have chosen to soft mod my Wii.
There really is no warranty sticker or seal on the Wii. So, if you're careful, you can take it apart and put it back together again without Nintendo suspecting anything....even if you mod it with a chip. Nintendo will replace the whole drive free of charge. I have had a customer who sent his Wii back because it wouldn't play DL games...after it was chipped. Nintendo just replaced his drive with a new one and sent it back to him. I had to rechip it but it now is working fine.
