    ??

    So basically you can't back up Super Paper Mario? What was all the junk I heard that it was fine aslong as both the Wii and the game were NTSC?

    I have a WiiD and have had no troubles with Super Paper Mario. Just make sure your Wii is up to date with the latest firmware.

    @jjjj55

    Are you sure it was Super Paper Mario that did this to your Wii settings?

    There should have been no problems when updating from a NTSC Super Paper Mario on an NTSC Wii.

    Have you downloaded Mario Strikers recently?

    Some have bricked their Wii System Settings by playing Mario Strikers on their NTSC Wii that was not updated. The PAL version bricked their Wii Settings. (They get the same error as you when trying to go to Wii Settings)

    If you happened to download Mario Strikers NTSC-VORTEX ISO then you updated the Wii with the PAL version of the firmware. VORTEX just region patched the game disc to NTSC from the PAL disc but it still included the PAL firmware update.

    Allot of people have bricked their Wii Settings from this VORTEX backup of Mario Strikers.

    The only thing you can do is wait till another NTSC Game Disc comes out with a higher firmware and try to unbrick the Wii Settings by re flashing your Wii back to the NTSC(U) firmware.

    Iv'e dumped spm and play with out a problem. One strange problem I do have is with mario party 8. Wii wont read the disk unless I stick in a gcos disk and when it says to put the dvd in (usually .dol's rom homebrew's) it reads the disk as mario party 8. I leave mario in and power cycle sometimes twice and mario plays fine.

    U = USA

    E = Europe

    J = Japan

    If you play PAL games just make sure your Wii stays updated with the most recent firmware. 2.2U/2.2E/2.2J is the most recent.

    I have never been connected to the internet so I have never updated my wii, I am sure it was an NTSC US Super Paper Mario that caused it. I put the game in and it asked for an update and I accepted and the cause was that I am unable to access my Wii settings. My wii is an NTSC US Wii aswell and I can still play Wii back-ups. Also my mod chip is a wiikey.

    @jjjj55

    Have you ever played Mario Strikers?

    I have never heard of a NTSC(U) Super Paper Mario bricking the Wii settings on an NTSC(U) Wii.

    I have only seen this happen with a PAL version of Mario Strikers. If you have played Mario Strikers then this probably was the cause of the Wii settings brick.

    @spawn1980

    Wii Brick Blocker is a patching program that you run on the game backup ISO. It evidently changes a string in the boot part of the Game Disc to skip the update all together. It seems to work well but I still wouldn't depend on that 100%

    I would still keep the Wii up to date with the latest firmware to be 100% safe of a wrong region firmware being updated on your Wii.

    I talked to nintendo about the problem and did not say i had a mod chip installed. They offered to send a new Wii to replace the broken one. Would it be smart to remove my mod chip and send the Wii back and get a new one, then re-install the mod chip. But the main thing i am afraid of is the unmoddable wii. what should I do?
