yes i agree with that wii and or wiikey can read both with out any problem ,most the problem it from compatible DISK name brand , that why when you buy the Blank disk reseach and buy the one work with wiikey .

    - SLIBS right too , because the wiikey website recomment used the DVD-r for 1.3 config. disk to prevent low rate fail when you try to boot it for setup.

I have a problem after updating to 1.9b and using the 1.3 setup disc.

backups used to work after the 1.9b update.

I set the dvdr read speed with the 1.3 config disk to 6x and the region to on saved the settings ans now it will not read backups or the setup 1.3 disk.

    it will work with originals.

I did load mario galaxy but the backups have been working fine after that i just got the semi bricked internet settings issue.

    any idea's.

    sorted...

the header on the wii key had come loose, the 6x dvd must have vibrated it free.

    great stuff.

    smg works a treat.

Should you update the Nintendo software before or after updating to 1.9 and config 1.3?

    Thanx,

Update via the internet first, then 1.9g, you may not need the config 1.3 though.

you will still get the 2 channels for the internet though, it may be worth waiting for a pal version, it will play but you will get extra channels and the possibillity of not been able to adjust your settings or get on the internet.

let someone else respond before you do anything in case my findings are a one off.

    thanks

    I'm getting a headache!!

I updated from 1.9b to g. I tried to run the 1.3 config and just get the disk read error message. I've burnt using low speed, non-modified iso, and nothing. Using dvd-r's, RiDisc, decent discs and never had a problem with boots before. Anybody got any suggestions? Thanks.

From the cmd prompt I am getting the following error:

'filechop.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file

Can someone explain to me what this means?

I burned the update disc straight off with nero, updated wiikey fine, burned the 1.3 config disc and got the error, i got the exact same error as algtz1 when trying to use filechop.
Anyway I managed to get the file bumped up to the full size and reburned the disc and it made no difference, same error.

Anyway, I read on another forum you could boot up GCOS first, then put the config 1.3 disc in and boot it from there, problem is I cant test this theory out yet until I get my gamecube pad which I need to collect from royal mail sorting office, you can download the pre built GCOS iso's here (change to http) hxxp://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=980
I will test this out when i get the GC pad, if it does work please post a reply to confirm it.

For those having the same problem I was booting 1.3 config I found a good link.

    http://psx-scene.com/forums/wiikey/59766-how-get-config-1-3-run-wii.html

Basically you just use their hacked 1.2 config as a base-disk... then once loaded you use 1.2config to enable multi-region. Once thats done 1.3config loads without a problem.

Fun stuff... but very annoying!! lol... not sure what it is about my wii/wiikey that meant I couldn't boot the 1.3 disk straight away, but their solution worked perfectly.. once that was done I could boot the 1.3 disk that originally wasn't working.

If I updated my wii with the 1.9g beta fix, do I need to also do the 1.9b fix if I haven't yet?

And also, if I change my disc speed to 3x with the 1.3 config, will my games work more consistently? Because many of my games are very intermittent. Sometimes when I put them in they work and other times they dont. It sucks.

Yes I forget to update my post to confirm the GCOS method works fine, I just pop in 1 of my Gamecube multigame discs (created using MultiGame ISO Creator), when game list loads up u press B and then click A on the the option "Boot DVD", after putting the setup disc in it works great.

But I did notice this only needs to be done when the wii is on PAL, if its already set to region free the setup disc works fine on its own. This leads me to believe the wiikey chaps didnt make it truley PAL.

(If you think you've created the config disk correctly go to the red AAAA if not sure read on)

You need to go back to rafadawns thread and read the whole lot carfully, then go back and look at the bits that refer to your problem, mainly

Yes you need to pad your files, so then look at,

Padded files for those who are Filechop-challenged:

If you dwnload these there is no need to pad (as it's already been done for you), but it's quite simple when you get the hang of it and will save you allot of time, if you want to give it a go read 2) FILECHOP and GCOS TUTORIAL carefuly.

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Now to get the padded file to run on your system (wich could be the problem you've been having all along) you'll either need to make it into a gcos disk or use the hacked config disk, I prefer the hacked disk, heres how I did it,

The hacked disk is allso available at rafasdawns Official Wiikey Resources and all other good WiiKey resellers. OM

    Yo Quick question.

    Im on 3.1E Pal
I just burnt my Config Disc 1.3 PAL. It works.

When i put it, yes it reads as a GCOS disc.
But it brings up a screen that says

    Multigame DVD9 Ver
    Wiikey Base 1.2

Is this correct? or should i be seeing another screen?
And when i try press the reset button, it actually does reset
and doesn't allow me to navigate the menu, please help?

Yes thats right, you need a gamecube pad to navigate the GCOS menu (I dont think the classic controller works), its only within the Wiikey config that you can use the reset button to select things, but if you need to get a gamecube pad to get to the wiikey config u can use that anyway, thus making the reset button select function not required.

    Hope this helps.
