    HELLO guys,
I just encountered a new problem while I was playing the game.
I was able to go past the protowing scene and I played the game further on. It freezes again after the battle with an optional Boss Golem named Barbados (in a desert area).
I beat it and after a small battle scene the game froze. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there something to do different from skiping the battle and taking a different path?
I hope someone can help me.
    GOODBYE AND GOODLUCK

You will need 3 main tools:
PlayStation 2 CD/DVD-Rom Generator 2.0 (You will be on your own to find this. Alternative legal programs exist but I have had no luck with them on this game.)
    CDVD IML2ISO 5.30 (http://www.alucard.cc/forums/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1219.0;attach=891)
    Apache3 (http://apache3.net/)

Take your current DVD5 rip that can get past Protowing and copy the files onto your hard drive into a folder somewhere. You do not need to rip a new ISO and use an extraction tool like ISO Buster or Apache. Just copy them off the DVD.

You have already patched the SLUS_209.37 and IOPRP280.IMG files so we will just use those.

Anyone else wishing to use this guide that has not patched those files must first do so. Also anyone wishing to use the original DVD9 must first downgrade some of the movies. This guide will not explain how to do this.

The files in BTL and BTL1, STG and STG1, and BGM0 and BGM1 are the same files. We will dummy out the files in BTL1, STG1, and BGM1 and further reduce the size. Ignore DUMMY.PSS in PSS0 and PSS1 as it is harmless and would save all of about 1.5MB.

Open notepad and type a single space then go into the 'File' menu and pick 'Save As'. Set the file type to 'All Files' and browse to 'BTL1\BTLANM.BIN' and over write the file. It should now be displayed in Windows Explorer as a 1KB file (They are actually 1 byte). Repeat this on all files in BTL1, STG1, and BGM1.

Now we have the files we need and can rebuild.

Open PlayStation 2 CD/DVD-Rom Generator 2.0 and in the 'File' menu select 'New' and then select 'DVD-ROM Master Disc'. I think it will automatically ask you this on load.

Copy the files and create folders on the new image in the exact order below. Do it one file at a time to insure proper order (easier and faster then it sounds). You can create folders by going in the 'Edit' menu and selecting 'Create directory' or by creating them in Windows Explorer and dragging them over.

    SLUS_209.37

    Create folder MODULES

After you are done select the 'Volume' tab and enter SLUS 20937 as the disc name and select America as the license area. Go in the 'File' menu and select 'export iml file' and save an .IML file. You are now done with this program.

Open CDVD IML2ISO 5.30 and open your .IML file and press the iml2iso button that becomes available to create your .ISO file. You are now done with this program.

We must now relink the files we dummied out in BTL1, STG1, and BGM1.

Open Apache3 and then open your .ISO file. Enter the BTL folder and right click on BTLANM.BIN and select 'Use Selected File As Master File'. Now enter BTL1 and right click on BTLANM.BIN and select 'Relink Selected File(s) To Master File'. BTL/BTLANM.BIN and BTL1/BTLANM.BIN will now be linked and show the same file size. Repeat this on all files in BTL and BTL1, STG and STG1, and BGM0 and BGM1 always using BTL, STG, and BGM0 as the master. We are now done with Apache3.

The game is now in a fully working state and should not freeze at Protowing, Barbados, or any other place in the game.

Burn the .ISO on respectable media using ImgBurn at the media rated speed (8x media at 8x) unless it is rated 16x then burn at 12x. If you are using DVD+RW media book type it to DVD-ROM. Do this in ImgBurn by pressing the book icon on the lower right corner of the 'Write' screen. Select your drive manufacturer, your media type, and then the book type desired.

Me and my roommate devised this method (I doubt we are the first but who knows) by combining the concepts of all the various other guides posted here and around the Internet into one and it worked quite well. We wasted about 10 DVD+RWs refining it though :). You should not have any issues with the game.

Very nice. I've had the idea of relinking the files for a while, but I wasn't sure if it was going to work and I didn't want to waste anymore DVDs than I already have. It's nice to know that there are pioneers willing to sacrifice a few DVDs to perfect a process. I like this method.

Em... Hello everyone! I was incredibly delighted when I discovered this thread, since I thought I was the only person in the world with a non working copy of this game and was so happy to see some kind people had actually solved the problem! And so I started following whatever all I read in here. But since I'm stuck, I figured I might as well sign up and ask you all for advice..? (Well... I tend to lurk around these forums a lot, but i never signed up since I don't have anything productive to give to you all and figured would just eb a nuisence...)

First of all, I'm an utter utter newb at this game rebuilding thing. All my great experience dates back to the... previous 3 days.

Okie, so unlike most people here, I actually had a fakey/pirated copy of Wild Arms Alter Code F, which got stuck at the Protowing scene. After reading random999's post on page 2, I managed to rip an iso(?)of it with Dvd Decryptor (I'm wondering if it even is an iso? I don't have any one iso file, there are three - one which said dvdimage, one which was a... 100 file(?), and one which was a 101 file), and then opened the iso (or rather the 100 file) with Isobuster. After applying the patches, that's where my problems started.

Since I had no clue how to patch an iso up, I decided to follow the instructions in genleoff's post just above. However, no matter how hard I've searched, I can't seem to find CD/DVD-Rom Generator 2.0? Is it a totally banned, taboo programme? The only version I could get my hands on was 1.2, which doesn't seem to work. So I went back to Tokijin's post on page 2 and tried my luck with Gnie's ExPERT tool.

I reopened my 'iso' with that, applied the patches once more and then closed it back up. Remembering how random999 had suggested the 2 files must be updated in Apache2, I tried to do so in Apache3 (its called Apache3 Build?). But er... I couldn't see any updating stuffs, so I just gave that up and moved on.

So then I burnt the whole thing again in Dvd Dycryptor. It gave me no messages that size was too much. :S When I went and checked the newly made disc it got stuck at the Protowing scene again! D:

So then I went back, and thought since I had two files here after the update - DVDIMAGE.100 and NEW-DVDIMAGE.100 - perhaps if I kicked out the old 100 file and renamed the new file with the older one's name, it might work.

Er... this latest one doesn't even play the bit when Jane skids down to meet up with Rudy, let alone reach the Protowing taking off scene and then jamming!! D:

So.... please, please, please someone help me? What am I doing wrong here? What ought I be doing?

(And I'm so sorry for such a long post. I just wanted to detail each and everything thing out, incase that helps, if someone decides to help me?)

I figured I'd post here instead of starting a new thread.

I'm seeking help for a project of mine. Specifically from people that have beaten the game. Since the game is DL normally in order to play the game on a single layer disk the movies have to be downgraded. What I'm trying to do is instead of downgrading the movies is to make multiple disks in which some movies are dummied while others are not. This is where I need help. I need to find out the order the movies are played. This program here can be used to view the movies on the computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Hi everyone I'm writing to ask something to the "brains" of this thread :D I've a DVD9 copy of the game I don't care if it is DVD9 and I don't want to downgrade the movies or something like that... can it be done or do I really have to convert it to DVD5?
I though I could just use the "toxic duallayer patch" (I'm I wrong??)

(By the way I'm not using any kind of chip, I'm using a Memor32 with m3mento firmw@re in conjuntion with ESR r8a)

    Hello everybody!
Whereas the others above, my question is not about the "awfull freezing scene of the protowing", it's more of.. technical one.
When I explored My DVD files, I saw that there was files named "VOICE" in the BTL files, and some "FLDVOICE" and "GRDVOICE" in the STG files. Does that mean that even if there are not activated the voice are still in the US DVD? And if it's true could there be a way to "reactivate" them?

whew... i just registered today and all and i feel like i'm so close to getting past that annoying scene however i still have a few problems... first is when i extract and make SLUS_209.37 into an ISO file, it won't be read by Apache2... same goes for IOPRP280
is there a step by step way on how to do it?

i have a pirated cd (yes, i'm embarrassed) and copied the existing files... i don't know what to do so what i need is the process... thank you

    try this rokuren

0.-you have to make a .iso of the game, use dvddecrypter

1.-you only have to extract the SLUS_209.37 file and the IOPRP280.IMG file of the game

2.-you need the "CONSOLE MEDIA PATCHER 1.1" and "DVDSCANLITE
3.7"(this is optional but i did it with this, also you can do all with the first program)), you need to install "APACHE 2"

3.-you need to patch the SLUS_209.37 with "DVDSCANLITE3.7" and select the "DVD" option

4.-patch now the "IOPRP280.IMG" with CONSOLE MEDIA PATCHER 1.1 and the dvd9--->dvd5 option be sure that the result is a "PATCHED FOR DVD5",

5.-now take the modified file and use the "DVDSCANLITE 3.7" and patch it for "DVD"

the two patches are not the same and you really need them

now we need to inject the files cuz the files are relinked and its a pain in the butt making a rebuild of this game

6.-now open apache 2 and select the imege of the game and search the files, first the slus and make a right click in that file and select "UPDATE SELECTED FILE" now search the modified file and replace the image one

7.- do the same with the IOPRP280.IMG

8.- burn the game and enjoy
