Will a DivX player play AVI files

    Searching round I found several DVD players that will play DivX, Xvid, Mpeg's apart from the Yamada dvx 6700 which also states it plays AVI files are there any others that can play AVI.

    If a player plays DivX, Xvid, Mpeg's will it automaticly play AVI's

    Um, I know I'm a new guy, but I use my DivX player to play .avi files all the time...

    yes they will play, however there are many types of .avi files ... the ones that are playing on your divx player are most likely coded with a divx codec or some type/sort of codec which is recognizable by your divx player ... which means that's great for you.

    p.s. my divx player (philips dvp642) also plays my .avi files! w00t!

    Yeah the usually will play, depending on ow burn them to cd, It was said my player doesnt play divx, but it does.....
