Hi. I am still wondering if a Sony drive will install a Rootkit? Hope someone has the answer on this. I read that it can, so is this true? Thank you, storm
Hi stormnyte, As far as I know, the rootkits were on Sony BMG cds. In order to play them on your computer you had to install their software which contained the rootkit. Talk about shooting the consumer. If you are worried, AnyDvd runs in the background and prevents rootkits. Ireland knows: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/256196 No, ASFAIK their drives do not have rootkits. In fact their drives are basically oems of other manufactures, Optorite, Lite-on, and now Benq. http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=16894
