I have a 1.4ghz pentium 4 processor, 512 ram and a 7800gs 256mb video card. I know everytihng is supported except the processor it wants a 1.7ghz but, do you think it will still work?
You should be able to run the game for the most part. Usually when the only issue is the processor speed, you will find that the game bogs down in places. Like in an intense fire fight. A real PAIN. Try reducing the game settings under options to improve performance. Things like resolution and other glitzy settings. The game won't look as good on the reduced settings, but you should be able to at least play it. Start saving money to buy a better set up. The min processor for Splinter Cell Double Agent is 3.0Ghz!! for example.
You are going to have a crayz load time with only 512 mb of ram! What graphics card are you using? A lot of people say you really need 2 gigs of ram for BF 2!
BF2 will load on that system as far as I know, but it will run real slow unless you put everything to the minimum (aka it won't look pretty). Even then it might be worth the money (due to low framerates and long loading times) to get a better processor and another 512 stick of RAM. What socket is your processor? Also, what motherboard are you using? If you don't know either one, I can try to figure out what socket and RAM socket you have. A 1GB kit of 184-pin DDR-SDRAM and a 3.0E Pentium 4 (Socket 478) would run you $178.98 with shipping from Newegg. Pretty good price and you have a nice video card already which helps. If you know your socket or what RAM you have (aka DDR-SDRAM, regular SDRAM, DDR2-SDRAM) please post and I will see what RAM etc. Newegg and ZipZoomFly have in-stock that would work with you motherboard. To run BF2 I would recommend a minimum of 1GB RAM and a 3GHz processor. Your graphics card is great though, which helps.
Its a dell 4300 pc which I got for free for christmas. It is sd ram and the max ram the comps supports is 512mb which I have I don't know what mobo I have how would I check? If I can I will get a new intel chip for my processor in the future to speed it up but would it only support other pentieum 4 chips? The graphics card is a BFG 7800gs ddr3 256mb card. My other comp is a HP amd4200 x2 64bit processor 2gigs ram and a 6600 256mb card. I can't change the cards because the dell is a agp slot and the HP is a pci-e slot. This comp won't run BF2 either except every once and a while which is why I want this one 2 be able to run it.
What? You can't run BF2 on this (the HP) system? That HP is more then equipt to run BF2 from the specs you posted. With the Dell I am unsure what your socket etc would be unless you call Dell, they might tell you. Thats too bad that your MoBo supports only 512MB, just wondering where did you get the information that the 4300 only supports 512? The processor can be upgraded to any processor that is the correct socket. However if your using it for gaming I would only stick with Pentium 4 processors in this situation.
The HP should work but always crashes even thought I have the lastest drivers. The dell web site states that about the dell 4300 computer only supporting up to 512. Does it matter what chip I get as long as its a pentium 4.
It does matter what Pentium 4 you get because, at least on newegg, they have two different socket-type P4s: LGA 775 and socket 478.
Google your motherboard model and you should be able to find the info on what socket type you have. You might even be able to search it on the NewEgg website itself and find the same info. But to answer your 1st question stated...With a 7800....you are going to need a lot more processing power to back that up...the Pentium 4 is fine but you need at least 2.6/2.7Ghz of power and at least 1GB of ram...recommend you have 2GB but I understand money doesn't grow on trees. If you can deal with the horrible graphics and slow performance then hey go ahead...but if you want to touch up the game's look and really experience what it has to offer then you might want to invest or start saving some money for some upgraded hardware.
