After the files have been ripped and processed by DVD Shrink, open Nero, or whatever burning software u use, and burn those files onto your DVDr in DVD-Video mode. Just make sure the files make it into the VIDEO_TS folder that Nero provides. If you don't use Nero or any other burning software that provides the folder, put the files into a folder named VIDEO_TS and burn it onto yer disc using DVD-Data mode.

A simple search thru the newbie forum would have provided u this same answer.

Sorry, I've been reading the threads. I'm new to all of this. I guess some confusion comes from, Is "nero" the same as "dvd decrypter", and if so is there a step by step instruction for how to find and use the dvd data mode?

    Hi Hank,
Are you trying to use Decrpter to burn to your disc? What folder did you have Shrink send them to?
I think I would use a different burning program if you are intending to use Decrypter. Can you go to the folder and open it and tell us what you have? Sould be some .BUPs, .VOBS and .IFO files. If the correct files are there and you still want to burn with Decrypter you might be able to use the ISO write mode, just click on the small icon in the source and go find your file folder. I don't have much hope for this to work but it is just a DVD. :D
    Good luck,

Hi again! Nero is generally used to burn your DVD files onto a blank disc-A burning program. Shrink and Decrypter are generally used as ripping tools. I hope you will go here and read the users guide for both Shrink 3.0b5 and Nero burning ROM Video-DVD.

You could also try CloneDVD hankwhite, which is a very easy and powerful program. It has excellent support for both DVD formats (+/-).

It also has more features than DVD Shrinks like the ability to choose either to output DVD files, ISO Image or burn to a DVD. It does howeber have a downside which is that it carn't rip. Use AnyDVD foe this which runs in the background and allows CloneDVD to rip from the DVD. AnyDVD also has many advance features which make this the ultimate decrypter!

If you need help, use my guides at my siter for a full run through the program.

    Good luck :D

Thanks for the info. I'm playing with all the options now. I used dvd shrink to compress the dvd and thought I had won the battle, but when I went to use nero it said the file was too big, I double checked everything and I was using the right files and I compressed them at 7 I guess I just need to play some. I'll keep you guys updated.

OK what am I doing wrong now? When I shrink the dvd it is sent to "C:" then when I open nero I select all the files drag them to either the video floder or the audio folder but I keep getting the message that I dont have enough room on the empty dvd. I know this is because I'm not asking it to do the right things. I'm currently looking for the nero guide hopeing that will help, in the mean time does anyone have the answer?

Hank! Tell me my friend, what version of Shrink you are using, What version of Nero 6, What burning program in Nero 6. Did you go into internet explorer and on your C drive create a folder called VIDEO_TS (All CAPITALS)I have always put my files that shrink makes in a folder. Then I just browse with Nero untill I find the folder they are in. I use Nero burning ROM in the DVD-Video mode, just as it's done in the guide http://dvdshrink.info/
    Don't give up!

Hank, make sure you don't have a bunch of video files from previous attempts.__X_X_X_X_X_[small]motorcycle racer

O.K. I thought I had it but I was wrong again. I'll tell you what I did if you would tell me what I did wrong.
    1.double clicked "my computer"
    2.right clicked "local disc C:)
    3.created a new folder called "VIDEO_TS"
    4.closed
    5.opened "dvdshrink"
6.clicked "open disc" which opend the disc in the dvd rom
    7.it evaluated the dvd
8.i shrank it down to fit on a dvd+r
    9. clicked "backup" it started encoding
    10.then it "remapped VOBS"
    the size is 4,301mb
    11.then i got "congratulations"
    12. I clicked "O.k."
    13.minimized "dvdshrink"
14.double clicked on the "nero" desktop icon
    15.clicked on the "dvd" tab
    16. went to "data", down to "make a data disc"
    17."nero express" popped up
    18.clicked the "add" button
    19.location waas local disc C:
20.scrolled down to "VIDEO_TS", and drug it to the add window
21.got the warning "added dvd video content to a compilation type that will not result in a dvd video compliant disc. to create disc playable in a standalond dvd player please use the dvd-video compilation type.....this is where I thought I had done something wrong but played around and had no luck, so I proceeded.
22.I clicked "nero" at the bottom, to see what would happen
23.then I clicked the "burn the current application" tab
24.the "burn compilation" box apperars and I clicked the "ISO" tab to see what it said. after reading it I decided to "releive all ISO restrictions" maybe this is where I went wrong?
    25.then I clicked "burn"
26.i got the box "warning" you are about to create a multisession write once dvd disc. session no.2 and above will not be readable with some dvd-r drives & operating systems prior to xp. this didn't sound too bad, there is that possibility it will work?
27.so i clicked "burn multisession anyway"
    28. it started writing, I never got this far before, once it finished i rushed it to my dvd player and it said, "no read"
i know you can look at this and tell me exactly what I did wrong and tell me how much of a tard I am but i know I'm a tard when it comes to this stuff so don't worry about telling me so. if you don't mind tell me what I did wrong so I don't ruin the next dvd+r, thanks

Hi hank, You might try the 3.0b5 version of Shrink but what u have will work. So you are trying to burn a Data disc??? Here's how I use the most current vesion of Nero 6 to burn using the Express feature.
    1. Open Express, note your burner in the pulldown menu.
    2. Select DVD-Video files, NOT Data!
    3. The DVD-Video file screen opens.
    4. Click on the small folder icon located at the top right of the screen. Then click the Add button, also top right.
    5. The Select files and folder screen appears.
    6. Browse to find your VIDEO_TS folder, click on it and then click the Add button.
7."VIDEO_TS" should appear below Folder Details at left.
8.Click the Finished button, then click Next, the screen now shows your AUDIO_TS with nothing in it and the VIDEO_TS with something like 4,359 MB in it.
    9. Click Next and you should see the Final Burn Settings screen come up. It should show your recorder and MY_DISC (unless you named it something else earlier, I don't). Don't check the Verify Data box unless you want to make your burn time total a lot longer!
    10. Make sure your compatible media is in the recorder and press the Burn button. :D
    Good luck,
    Frank

Hank I used the startsmart feature and Im not sure why you clicked on Data and then make a Data disc, Try using the Copy and Backup (second from right) and then Copy Disc (top) That opens Burning ROM and you can use the guide found here. http://dvdshrink.info/ Have you looked at these guides yet? Maybe my previous post won't help...its for EXpress. Without using Startsmart. oops.
If u ever burn let us know!!
    LOLs,

Finally! I shrank and burned a dvd bigger that 4.7gb!!!! the 4.7gb ones were easy with dvd decrypter but when it come to shrinking one to burn I nearly give up. But it was simple, after shrinking it to fit I just used the "photo and video", then "make dvd video", added the "video_ts" folder to the video_ts" folder provided by nero, clicked "nero" at the bottom, then, "burns the current compilation", then, "burn", and it worked like a champ. thanks for all your help, between that and the 6 shots of JACK so far tonight, I finally shrank and burned!!!! Tell me what you would do different. I'm sure this is not the right way, unless I finally got lucky.

Sorry for asking again, but I'm still not sure you did it corrrectly.
You're supposed to drag the [bold]"shrunk" files[/bold] into the "VIDEO_TS" folder provided by Nero, not one folder into another.
    Is that what you did?

Yes, I'm sorry about the mix up, I just did the process again with a new DVD, and realized I couldn't drag the folder, instead I had to open it and highlight all the files and drag them. I really appreciate all the help from everyone, I hope to be able to contribute to this site once I get more comfortable. Just a small question a little off the subject. Before I knew of this site I run across smart burn pro, and bought the download version for 19.95, it promised it would do so much, but I was never able to download it and the phone # to contact them....well won't contact anyone. I've also emailed two different email address on the site and ...you guessed it...no response. I simpily want to cancel the order, have you heard of anyone else running into this problem?
