Is Nero Ultra Edition 6.6 really an "All In One" media software program? I would like to download internet movies in the AVI format and burn them to a DVD-R and play them on my home DVD player. Instead of using 2 or 3 different software programs, I would rather use just one. Is Nero Ultra Edition 6.6 (Soon to become 7) my answer. I have tried 6 or 8 different combinations of software and when I think I have the right combination, one burnt DVD works and the next one won't. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am a noobe to this video and DVD thing and it's driving me nuts. Thanks in advance.

    Dear floyd1845,

Nero says it works with avis, but you'll find out sooner or later that it doesn't work with ALL avis. Besides, it' not a very good encoder itself. So instead of using Nero, many people would encode with e.g. VSO DivxToDVD (free version), then burn with Nero.

It would be great to have a do-all program, but sometimes a do-all program does not do well in all it does.

    Happy DVD burning!

Thank for the prompt reply. I have tried VSO DivXtoDVD along with WinAVI, Avi2Dvd, dvdsanta and have had trouble every one. The first time I tried WinAVI, it worked and will play on my home DVD but I have the trial version and it has the logo in the middle of the picture. The trouble is, I don't remember which software I used with WinAVI to get it to work. That's why I thought if Nero 6.6 would do it all, I would try it and see. Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have used the afterdawn guides and havn't had any success. I have an IBM Net Vista PC and a Zenith XBR413 VCR/DVD player/recorder. I have checked and the player does recognize both DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW. I'm stuck.....

Try use VSO again and tell us the errors you're encountering.
