If the psp had a 2nd analog stick and used memory cards for games is would be a pretty decent handheld gaming platform, but it doesn't so its pretty much shit when it comes to gaming especially in shooters. Which has nothing to do with the games being pirated or not.

It's a fairly decent media device though, and there's quite a few useful homebrew programs out there for it. IMO if the psp WASN'T hacked it would have been a complete flop.

They likely said the same thing of the DL dvd's at the same period in its generation. And mgs4 already struggled to fit the game onto a dl blueray, by the end of the ps3's lifetime I'm sure many games will start to run into the same issue.

what I would like see with ps3 is a way u can install games that you own on disc to your hard drive so that you could play games on that system without using your disc maybe PC install and could make a games with expansion packs not just little DLC like sims games

Man don't get me started on this.

I travel a around a lot so bought DVD's in other countries. Play fine on my multi-region dvd player, but play it on my so called really advanced PS3, and no chance. What options do I have?

    1) Hack my PS3?
    2) Use my DVD player?
    3) Dump my PS3 for more user friendly X Box

Then there are stupid region locked expensive Blu Ray disks. I like owning originals, and will pay a premium to get unrated versions or Region 1/A versions (because they tend to be uncut). Will my stupid PS3 play any other region? Again my options are:

    1) Hack my PS3
    2) Get bootleg multi-region versions of bluray
    3) Download torrents

Sony are in effect forcing honest people to do illegal things.

Now lets get to the games? I love RPG's, now where the hell are the RPG's (which for my money show off the consols graphics best) on this. X Box beats it hands down on this. What the hell are Sony playing at?

If a Blu-ray version of X-box comes out which can be easily modified, I will abandon PS3 like a shot.

I consider myself a loyal Sony customer, but no more.

I may be reading this wrong, but I have no idea why you're quoting my post for your statement.

Sony aren't forcing honest people to do illegal things. Sony are a HUGE multinational corporation with branches in the movie sector and it is common practice that anything capable playing DVDs are region locked especially with a company that also produces and distributes movies (Nothing to do with evil Sony and how they dont want you to play other region DVDs), besides why in god's name would anyone bother playing DVDs on a PS3? Surely if you wanted to you could rip it and put it on a PS3 hard drive so that is definitley a moot point.

I hope you're aware a very very large majority of Blu-rays are not region locked minus a very smal amount of titles which are growing smaller as time passes so that again, a moot point.

    As for RPGs....

Its not clear who you are saying this to,and even if someone on this thread was a Sony fanboy, they are entitled to be.

Though i would like to point out, that disagreeing with you, dosnt make one a fanboy of any type,it simply makes them opinionated.

    Let me explain something:

    1) The point was not directed at you
    2) It was a bit of a jovial/jokesy type comment
    3) Lighten up man.

When it comes to console flamewars every fire begins with a spark so we try to clamp down on it before it gets out of hand.

Fanboy is one thing, but fighting over which is the best console....hmmm......As a Newbie I didn't realise people actually fought over consoles. That is a bit lame isn't it?

Thanx Canuck & Marc. They are 100% right. Here @ aD we don't tolerate ANY of that, as we don't want that kind of element or environment to affect what we have here. We have always had a "Zero tolerance for fanboy flame starters" just as it is clearly stated at the very top (as a sticky) in EVERY console forum.

We have absolutely no problem with banning anyone at anytime, no mater their title. We don't play that here; never have & never will. Which is why we are different than 99% of the other sites out there that have console discussions who allow BS like that and have nothing but terrible problems with childish arguments (of which are usually based around misinformation and/or bias).

There is a discernable difference between having a discussion with criticism and fanboy arguments based on misinformation and/or bias.

By bias and misinformation do you mean say something like "I love x-box and I think ps3 suks because graphics are crap on ps3?"

For me, I am a genuine Sony fan (probably described as fanboy), I tend to buy Sony, but I am seriously angry about some of things aurrounding Blu-ray and PS3. I would have thought they would have learned from mistakes with other consoles and also with regard to dvd.

Don't blame Sony them, contrary to what you may believe, Sony don't control the movie industry.

They were one of the many corporations backing Blu-Ray, they have to make their console region locked or else it would be dumped.

Look, I just want the PS3 to be as successful and as good as the PS2. That's all. I am sure they can do things to help this issue.

"Will the ps3 ever be hacked?"

nothing is impossible. somewhere somehow someone is probably working on it. might be for a awhile but i know it's doable. the ps3 has tight security, but i know someone out there can crack it.

I couldn't be bothered reading all the replies on this thread, so if I am saying something someone else said, my bad.

Anyways, I reckon they will break the ps3 sooner or later, I mean xbox360 and Wii have been broken. One of the troubles is you have to manually download the firm ware for you're playstation 3, since each firm ware sony releases would most likely prevent your playstation 3 playing copied games, aswell as damage the 'ps3 chip'. Also having a reliable source to download them. And then theirs that trouble of burning Blu-ray disks. One blue-ray disk costs like 20-40 dollars, might aswell just keep you're playstation 3 games clean so you do not need to back them up. What some people do with ps2 games that are big, is degrade the quality of the games so it fits the DVD-5 disk. Which is probably impossibly annoying to do with playstation3 games, if it is possible to take stuff out you don't need.

I am just posting this is because I am just pointing out my opinion.
Though if it does come down to backing up Ps3 games on Blue-ray disks, screw it. Just keep your playstation 3 games clean.
