Hey, im helping a friend build his computer for gaming, and he has chosen this card http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=188487&CatId=880

The ATI 9800 Pro. I know its an older card but from what I hear it isnt half bad, and for the price (hes on budget) its good. Now he has a motherboard that says it will support 1x, 2x, 3x, and 4x AGP, but this card says 8x. Is this card 8x/4x? Or strickly 8x. If his motherboard will not support this card, is there something like an adaptor-like clip that can go in his 4x AGP and on the top its 8x? If so, that would be nice. Lol, I hope you understood that :p

Please get back to me ASAP. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the instant reply. It is: Biostar M7VIQ (approx. 4 year old board) he cannot upgrade for awhile.

[edit]I think I might have solved this problem from here: http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/radeon/sapphire-2.html

[quote Sapphire Atlantis RADEON 9800 PRO 128MBAGP x8/x4/x2 interface, 128 MB DDR SDRAM memory in 8 chips on both PCB sides.[/quote]

    I think thats the card?

hmm, I did look into that card and I was actually going to get it but I noticed it said 8x, but this might be like the 9800 Pro, where it will support 4x as well... so the 6600 GT is better than the 9800 Pro? I might be in luck and cancel my order seeing as the trasaction hasn't even went through yet. So this would be a better bet than the 9800 Pro?
