according to this link http://www.dell.com/downloads/ca/rpg/c840_spec.pdf your cpu uses a 400 fsb wereas that ebay cpu uses a 533 fsb so can't use it.
read the link as it is middle column near the top. try to find a northwood dye cpu as that ebay cpu is a prescott dye.
