I really want xbox live(mainly for halo 2 and madden) on my modded xbox(i got an xecuter 2 chip and im running EvoX on it)and im wondering what im proposing is gonna work. I know you need to turn your mod chip off to go on xbox live. Heres are few things about my xbox though.
My xbox wont function if I have the chip OFF when I turn my system on. But it will function if the chip is on when I start the system to get onto the EvoX dashboard, then I can turn it off and it will function.
I have the actual madden and halo 2 disks, but I play them straight off my hard drive where its backed up. Also, i recently installed the map pack for halo2 by dowloading the zip and flashing it over to the system and overwriting the necessary files.

so this is what my idea was:
    1.I get xbox live.
    2. I turn on my system with the mod chip ON to access the EvoX dashboard, once there i turn it OFF.
    3. I put halo 2 on, do the sign in and everything.
    4. hopefully it will work

Does this sound like it will work? Should i delete my Halo 2 backup from my hard drive and play it straight from the disk? Will me having the updates already affect the xbox live process? Any info would be appreciated, thanks

Thanks, thats what I'll try. Im wondering though, would me playing the game off of my hard drive instead of playing it off the disc cause any problems?

unfortunitly u may accually be banned if your modchip is on when you try to connect to xbox live

also one thing it doesnt mention in there is that you have to have the hdd that was in the xbox the first time you connected to xbox live. if you have never connected to xbox live before then your good to go if you upgraded your hdd.

yeah, i know about that. My main concern is that for me to run my xbox, i need my mod chip on when I turn the system on and get to the EvoX menu. Once there, i can turn the chip off and everything runs fine.

as long as the chip is off and the game is runnin off of the dvd not the hdd your good to go then

you seem like you got a weird problem... once the chip is off can you then goto the M$ dashboard?

yeah, i can access the MS Dashboard no problem from EvoX when my chip is off. I just need the chip on when I turn on my system. If the chip is off when i turn the system on, that bizarre error screen comes up saying it needs to be repaired.
