I had to reload my win 2k on my lap top. Now I have this messenger messages that keep popping up. I know there is a way to turn it off, but I just don't remember how to do it. If anyone knows how to do it, please tell me......Thanx

I think it is the same as XP, so I'll try to help. Start>control panel>add remove programs>add remove windows components>scroll down to messenger, make sure it is unchecked. I had the problem after reinstalling the other day, I had the box un checked, but downloaded the messenger security update. The showed anyway. I had to check the box, restart, then uncheck it. Then it went away.

That's to disable Windows Messenger. Which is not installed on W2K. The Messenger being referred to here, is an administration message client for network messages, not associated with the IM client.

    Go to Start, Run, services.msc

Scroll down to Messenger, double click, pull down menu, choose Disabled.

    Restart to take effect.

I just want to say thanx to Morph416. You were right on the money. It has been awhile (years)since I had to do anything like this. Thanx again.
