    When i start nero 6 on my win98se for my dvd-rw i get this pop up.

    -----------------
    The Win-ASPI file '?.?' cannot be found, therefore you can currently select only image recorders.

    The missing file if one of the Windows 95/98/Me files. Please fix this problem and restart Nero

    (Error 12: Init failed!)
    -----------------

    i guessed it was the winaspi.dll file so i restored it (copied original first) but it's made no difference. I've been using it for about 8 months now with no problem until today.

    help!! :-(

    You can try this to see if your problem is cured.

    1. Completely uninstall Nero 6.xx

    2. Run the General Nero Clean tool;
    http://ww2.nero.com/enu/General_Clean_Tool.html
    3. Run the InCD Clean Tool if you had it installed;
    http://ww2.nero.com/enu/InCD_Clean_Tool.html
    4. Re-start your PC
    5. Re-install Nero 6.XX on your PC**

    ** Note: Nero 6.xx will install winaspi.dll file, since your operating system is 98se, however, you'll need to install this ASPI .dll:

    http://ww2.nero.com/enu/NEASPIEN.EXE.html

    That should do it, I hope.

    Oh, also check to see your dvd-rw drive is set to DMA on(Auto)

    thanks for the reply, yep dma is ok

    i ended up deleting nero and reinstalling it, but it asked for the winaspi file to be reinstalled so i put the original back in and it runs great now, i wish i knew why it messed up in the first place
