    Hi everyone

    When i start up in normal startup, winxp loads up but then all i get is a black screen on which i can see the mouse pointer. Can't enter task manager, can't use winkey+l, can't do anything.
    I can boot up in safe mode, but for the life of me have no idea what to do after that.
    stupidly i had recently loaded the following script onto my startup and that's when my nightmare began.....

    @echo off
    set delay=300
    ping localhost -n %delay%
    rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

    when i rebooted i got the black screen for the first time. booted in safe and deleted this .bat but then i found several other instances of it and deleted all and turned off my system restore as many were in the recyclers so now i can't do a sys restore, although i had tried it & it didn't work

    I doubt that it's a hardware problem, but clearly i'm not very bright using scripts that i really am not sure do what, so if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, pls let me know

    don't know if it has anything to do with it but had also used tweakui to auto log on user, but have turned it back off again.

    If anyone out there can help me with tis i will be VERY grateful!

    Thanks

    I tried a web search & couldn't turn up anything useful,there's no knowing if the registry is now corrupted or what damage has been done unless the script source has info on how to remove it unless it's malicious,so there's two options i'd use either repair or a better way is full reformat & reinstall personally i'd go the latter & use say easeus imaging to create backups at intervals,to save any data you could use a live cd of puppy & mount the hdd
