win xp pro s2 updates not allowed on non purched legal software

    a friend of mine has service pack 2 pro xp but it ilegalecopy microsoft well not allow him 2 update dose anyone else have this problum

    A lot of people do, and there's one way to cure this : Tell him to get a [bold]legal[/bold] copy of windows :D

    Yeh the best way to fix your problem would be as Daniel_G said, youll have to tell your friend to buy a legal copy of windows.

    thats what i would do, always use a legal os.

    if I had to get XP it would be one of thos 80$ OEM/student version hehehehe...that is if I had to....I refuse to spend 400 on a OS...not as half assed as XP is.....we shall see abotu vista but I dout it will be much better....

    Open up Internet explorer, go to tools/manage add ons. You will get a list of services (don't forget the drop down window to uncover more). You will see Genuine advantage tool. Just disable, apply & reopen IE.

    That should do the trick!

    Pulsar cool trick, theres a way to allow illegal software to update now..does that mean you are using illegal windows??

    Nope, I read on this forum that one of the members had a problem with his copy of windows, he spoke to microsoft & they told him what to do. He said that the operative chuckled whilst he was telling him how to do it!

    I chuckled too!

    I am not at all happy advocating using pirated software, one only ends up with probs in the long run.

    LOL, yeh i personaly dont like the use of illegal OS's as you say i agree it wil f*** you up in the long run..

    so oioioioi (i dont think he'll be back) should tell his "friend" (LMAO we all know its not your friend) to use a legit version for best results.
