To wipe out the restore points that have infected files: 1) On the Windows task bar, click Start 2) Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties 3) On the System Restore tab, check Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all drives. Try this version of SmitFraudFix: http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php Your log appears to be clean. For future reference, it's advisable to move Hijack This into its own folder. If you work from within the zipped folder, removing entries will not create any back-ups... I did not notice any anti-spyware apps installed. I suggest you download and install one, so you can ryun scans on a regular basis. If you need some recommendations, post back and I can help you with that...
Thanks for your help. I have done as you said. There are no viruses detected with Avast now. What anti-spyware program would you recommend?
well, if you are looking for a powerful scanner, many people would reccomend ewido antispyware. download But if you're looking for realtime protection, some people would reccomend spyware blaster.download Personally, I would go with ewido, because as long as you remember to scan and update on a regular basis, you'll be fine
I'd agree that AVGAS(Ewido) is best also, however since the change of the name to AVGAS now after the 30-day trial some of the definition extentions are taken away along with the normal expiration of automatic updates and real-time protection. Blame Grisoft for that one.
Yeah, that's unfortunate... Of course, here are some other ones that you can try out. Best of all, they're free: SUPERAntiSpyware Ad-Aware SE Spybot: Search & Destroy
