Don't know. I typed your FLUSH BUF message into Google and found a page where the guy said Divx codec does not do this but some others do.

Does it actually say OutDir Can Not Include_ (do you see the underscore character at the end?)?

It means the output directory cannot include an underscore, ie, "\Output_dir\". Change the output directory to a folder without an underscore in the name.

Unfortunately this is a very common error message, and there are many reasons why it might show up. Here are a few ideas that might or might not help:-

    1) DirectX 8.1 isn't (correctly) installed.

    Download it from here

    http://www.fileplanet.com/55074/50000/fileinfo/DirectX-8.1b-for-Windows-98,-ME,-2K,-and-XP

    (2)

Install latest drivers for your sound card

    (3)

If you have installed Mega Codec Pack, with 3ivx codec, you need to uninstall the 3ivx codec and try a different mpeg4 codec.

    (4) When you installed WinAVI and/or the mpeg4 codec you were not using an Adminstrator account.

Yup it is dumb and it catches lots of users. I think that considering it is a paid-for program, WinAVI is kind of hokey in a number of ways. But it does convert avis to dvds quite quickly

I found out about this problem by typing the error message into Google. This, folks, is a good way of tracking down the causes of errors...
