hopefully someone can help me. i am using winavi to convert files to dvd. avi files convert no problem. divx files however cause the program to give me the message "winavi has encountered a problem and needs to close..." do i need to convert the divx to avi first? if so can i use winavi to do this? if not can someone suggest another program? the other possibility i thought of was that of maybe missing the proper codecs? could this be the root cause of my problem? thank you in advance.

here's what one of the guys suggested to me a couple days ago.

    Download k-lite mega code pack, it's here - http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm (22MB)

'K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and related tools. The K-Lite Codec Pack is designed as a user-friendly solution for playing all your movie files.'

ffdshow is in the mega pack also. That's why i liked this pack so much, it has everything except the kitchen sink in there, not bad for 22MB

maybe try a different program. Divx2DVD is pretty fast, simple to use and is free. I use it and the only time I've had a problem is when I try to do multiple files in the same batch, so I just do 1 at a time now.

yeah, it makes a chapter point every 5 minutes, but you may be able to change that setting. I don't know, I've never messed with that area of the program. I like the chapters too, every 5 minutes is fine by me.

dll files are links to other programs. DVD Rebuilder uses DLL files to programs like AVISynth, so technically even though it looks like I'm using only DVD Rebuilder and CCE Basic, I'm also using AVISynth and DGDecode. Just giving an example of where DLL files are used.

As far as divx2dvd giving you that error, I've never heard of NeoDVD, it's not installed on my PC as far as I know. If it's installed on your PC, maybe it's conflicting with other software like Divx2DVD and WinAVI.

thanks for everyone' s help. i have got everything working finally. i have one more question though. when i convert the avi files to dvd format, some of the movies split the files into 2 seperate dvd files, how do i merge these to form 1 dvd?

are they all about 1GB in size? If so don't worry about it. They're split up that way to cooperate with your computer better. You don't need to merge them.

Unless you're talking about different movies altogether, that's another story.

after i thought i had the problem fixed, winavi has acted up again. i have come to the conclusion that there is some internal conflict with winavi and another program, i hve run the registry fix program and that had seem to fix the problem. does anyone know of conflicts with azureus and any programs? anyone suggest what they think is the best bit torrent client? i am determined to figure this out. thanks again.

I'm experiencing problems burning with DVD Decrypter and also burning PS2 games in general. Maybe Azureus has something to do with this. I'll uninstall it and retry my burns and let you know how they turn out to see if I have any conflicts with it.
