Ok I have used Winavi to do the necessary conversions of an xvid video file, but when I click the burn dvd button it brings up Nero express, now I add the files to be burnt but when I press the burn button, it brings up another screen saying save image file. I have no idea what to do next or how to burn the files on to the disc. Any help would be great.

    (I am using Nero 5)

    Thank you

    Dear Disqo,

Winavi lets you choose between using its own burning engine or Nero for the final burning. If you want to use Winavi for the final burning, you can do so by clicking 'menu', 'options', then check 'use winavi built in cd burner'.

If you leave that unchecked, Winavi would bring up Nero Express.

If you want to have more freedom, just use Winavi for encoding, then exit the program, and use whatever program you like for the final burning.

I, for example, like to use Nero Recode for the final burning. So basically I just use Winavi for encoding my videos (e.g. avi) into dvd compliant format, then open Recode for the final burning.

    That's how it works.

    @ Disqo,

    No problem.

    @ trini22,

Did the dvd play o.k. before the final burning?

You may try to encode and burn to harddisk first, and check the results before burning to dvd. I understand from your first post that something might have disrupted Nero during its operation. From my experience, once disrupted, Nero might go crazy and you may need to 'completely' uninstall and reinstall the program to get things back to normal.

In any case, if it still doesn't work, you can always try swtich to e.g. ConvertXtoDVD. More and more people have already done so.

    Good luck!

after i encode the dvd to the hardrive wat do i do?
how do i burn it to a dvd, wat program do I go through in Nero

and also i successfully burned a AVI file with ConvertXtoDVD the only program i got was that when i went to watch it in the dvd player it was not widescreen it was zoomed in, with part of the picture on both sides missing...that is the only problem i got but other than that it was perfect

If the converted video plays fine on the hardisk, you can be sure that the encoding part is o.k.. You can then use whatever burning programs you have for burning to dvd (e.g. Nero Recode, ConvertXtoDVD) and compare the results.

Re. the problem with ConvertXtoDVD, you may first check whether the program settings are o.k. (e.g. set 'tv format --- tv screen' to wide screen).

    Good luck!

I recoded the AVI to DVD through Nero Vision Express 3 (Export) as you stated before and it play well on the computer without any freezing so now i just need tot burn it to DVD but im not to sure:

in Nero recode 2 which setting do i choose at the beginning,
Recode an Entire DVD to DVD
    Recode Main Movie to DVD
    Remake a DVD
Recode DVDs and Videos to Nero Digital
Recode Main Movie to Nero Digital

Also when Exporting the DVD in Nero Vision Express 3 which it better to select as an export template (DVD) or (Nero Digital)

And the last question is the Nero Vision Express 3 (3.0.1.25) the latest version or is their a better one, because i read on some forums that the last version was better i think it was Nero Vision Epxress 3.0.1.14 something aorund that...basically it was the verision that i had right before the one i have now
thanks for the great Help scf_au

    1) To burn to dvd from harddisk folder, run Nero Recode, click 'copy entire dvd to dvd', then 'import dvd', then go highlight the video_ts folder of the movie on hardisk, and follow from there.

    2) I only have Nero Vision Express 2 and seldom use it (sticking to ConvertXToDVD most of the time), so I'm not sure about the newer or better versions, or what you mean by 'exporting' the dvd.
