I recently had the WinAvi v7.1 most of the time it did a good job converting Avi to Dvd except for one movie. The audio would not keep up with the movie. I recently updated to the newest version 7.5 hoping this would fix any bugs. I tried converting the same movie again, it played fine on my computer but once I tried to play it on my playstation 2, it wouldn't be able to read the disk. With WinAvi v7.1 the audio was the problem with v7.5 the disk will not read. Same brand disk (Panasonic) with 2 different problems. How can I solve this?

Panasonic disks aren't very good. Use Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, and Made in Japan labeled Fuji and Sony disks. Also don't burn at too high a speed. You might also try DVD Copy 4 Platinum. It has a fully functioning free trial:

If you use good media and this program and still have the problem, then it could be the files themselves.

I recently bought Verbatim dvd-r disk and guess what? I still have the same problem. I narrow it down to 2 things it could possible be; the WinAvi converting software or the Nero 6.6 burning software, both have no recent updates. I don't multi-task, I don't even run a screen-saver, I burn at 4X the speed instead of 8X. I tried to burn a different movie and I still get the same problem. If this helps playstation 2 gives me a message "Tv stand not compatible" Whatever that means. I tried an older Dvd player it plays the movie but the image is filtered weirdly. Help would be good.

Are you sure the AVIs are in the right broadcasting standard? I don't use a PS2 so I'm not familiar with the error you stated but it sounds as though the files it's getting are not what it wants. Did you try DVD Copy 4 Platinum? The best version of Nero 6 is 6.6.0.18. The latest update seems to be problematic. When converting your AVIs check to make sure you are converting to the correct broadcast standard: NTSC, PAL, etc. Also you might want to post in the peg1, mpeg1 encoding forum linked below as it's more related to your problem and more people are likely to be able to help.
