Microsoft should've kept developing and updating Windows 7 instead of the win 8, 10, 11 fiasco, because it was their last great operating system.

I made the swap because of new hardware requirements but I still have plenty of high quality aging parts and a few copies of Win7 to go retro.

Windows 10 can be made to look, function, and feel like Windows 7, but I'm not so sure about Windows 11. The new hardware requirements to use Windows 11 is nothing than a scam to get people to spend.

Win 7 here as well. If it allowed customization using stardock dx themes like xp it'd be perfect. I have win 10 next door & pretty much can't be arsed using it, personally it's only on there due to later games not working on win 7, which is contradictory as i don't have any games installed on either lol. There were till something went horribly wrong in the smelting process & re-install was necessary

Yes i always install it including on win 7. Retrobar isn't to bad to get xp themed taskbar including the zune theme. However its not perfect as there doesn't appear there's anyway to add toolbars.

Desktop & computer. They're there, however retrobar overlays them due to overlaying the bar in general lol. It's not an issue, just inconvenient.

right click on the taskbar & select toolbar it will add what you want to the left of the system tray. Retro doesn't have that option. It requires exiting it & when it's overlay is gone windows taskbar is there along with the toolbar options selected i.e context menu of desktop etc

First image is with retrobar running. Second image is with retrobar exited. Toolbars can now be seen i.e desktop & computer menu links. The system tray is to the far right no pun intended hahaha. Retrobar is a 3rd party software that overlays the taskbar to allow older looking style of the taskbar. There is no option for it to add the links i want, it is what it is.

I thought you were using classic shell? I don't use retro bar. I find classic shell tweaked is enough.

I am using cs however that's for start menu you can see the shell in the 2nd pic as the start button.cs is basically tweakui powertoy for windows.Retrobar is only for the taskbar to add more themes i'll use it till i get bored with it
