Hey guys, I'm having quite the frustating problem with Windows 2000. See problem goes is I can access my Local Network, I can even config my router from the cmoputer, however I can't browse the internet, nor connect to MSN or anything of the sort. There is no internet going to my router, and everything is on auto-detect, I also manually typed everything in to see if that'd fix it. Nothing. I refreshed my IP, pingged my computers IP, the Gateway, some other crap even google.com Which worked the first time. I was able to actually browse the internet for a brief moment, went on google, searched LOL to test, sucessful, than I decided to go to another website which was when my net disconnected. SO I pinged everything again, and got time outs. errors etc. I heard Windows 2000 was a pain in the butt for LANs but this is retarded I'd rather deal with VISTA than this crap. Any ideas what I can do? All my other computers run XP or 7 and work flawlessly, it's just this. I know for a fact it's my OS. NOTHING is wrong with my router config, it detects and what not. It's simply Windows 2000!

What error for you get? 404? 500? "Site not A-->reachable"? It could be a browser problem for all you've posted. If you have no internet going to your router, how do you expect to get it to your PC connected to the router??? "I know for a fact it's my OS." Sounds like a configuration error to me. Try this: 1. Open a command prompt window 2. Type ipconfig 3. Type ping www.yahoo.com 4. If your computer cannot resolve the ipaddress, it's likely that your DNS settings are whacked 5. If you can resolve the ip@ and successfully ping the site, then open a browser window and attempt to connect to the http: If it fails, tell us What browser you are using What error message are you getting? AFAIK, there's nothing inherently wrong with networking in Win2K.
Are you getting an IP from the router? Is the 2k machine behind any other devices? With the info provided, it sounds to me like a firewall or virus/spyware issue. You try reinstalling your TCP/IP protocol too.

Good point! I completely forgot about that. One more thing I forgot to say was try an "ipconfig /flushdns" without the quotes, of course. Or if you could, give us the outcome of a "netstat -an" and "netstat -es" command.
