This is a strange issue which I have not had on any of my computers running windows 7, when I plug in any USB data device into my windows 7 laptop (xps m1330), it doesn't stop reading my data drives for several minutes, its as if its logging everything on my drives which is really annoying, especially when I want to quickly transfer a file and remove my flash drive, I have to wait for the busy indicator LED to stop blinking before it finally allows me to remove safely.
Has anyone else had this issue, is it possible to stop this from happening?

    1. Disable write caching? It may be doing a delayed write.
    2. Turn off drive indexing? It may be trying to index the USB stick.

Just quick guesses off the top of my head that are non-OS Specific
