Hi forum, Since I have upgraded from Vista 32bit to 7 Ultimate 32bit with a clean install I have continually experienced problems with Windows media player. I cannot access media player as an error message keeps popping up stating : "The file wmploc.dll has a version number 12.0.7600.16835 where 11.0.6002.18065 was expected. Windows media player is not installed properly and must be re-installed. Do you want to install the media player from the Microsoft website ? When I click on yes it takes me to the MS website but all it tells me is that there is no available download for this version !!!!!!! Any ideas ??? Thanks, Jim.
Same thing happened to me. Well Im still using vista but I installed WMP12 and I get the same message. I just did a system restore and it took me back to WMP11. Sorry cant help you but try to do a system restore or reinstall 7 to se if it works I guess or just call MS.
Hi forum, Received a reply from Microsoft and this has resolved the issue. Welcome to Microsoft Answers! · This issue could occur when the version of wmp.dll is out of sync with what is set in the Windows registry. · Also this issue might occur because of the recent Windows Media Player updates if any or file corruption due to non microsoft software installation. Follow these steps to resolve this issue: 1. Reboot your system. 2. Open cmd.exe as an administrator by selecting Start/All Programs/Accessories. 3. Right click on Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator. 4. Type in unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMPVersion 5. Press enter.
