I am trying to install the windows 7 upgrade kit I got when I bought my computer. It has Vista on it now. I just did a system restore so everything is fresh. Everytime it is installing 7 it will get to a part and reboot and then come to a log in screen asking for a user name and password. I find this weird because I have not set one up for it. It says that the Specified Domain either does not exist or cannot be contacted. It is not set up to a network or anything. It is just a home desktop. I have no clue what to do.

I want to use the upgrade disc because it came with the system and I shouldn't have to buy a whole new one. I did format and reinstall and it still does this.
Did you contact the computer manufacturer that provided the upgrade kit? I'm thinking that getting an windows 7 disc is a good idea. I wouldn't pay anything for it or anything I would look to borrowing from a friend or download it from somewhere. Just make sure you use the installation code that came with your upgrade kit. Sometimes installation discs come with all the version of the windows installer and which one it installs depends on the installation code you enter. What you could try is to bypass the part where you enter you installation code. That should take you to a screen where it asks you which version to install. Select the version you have a code for and install. You'll have to activate windows later with the installation key after it's operational. This may not work with windows 7, it's something I experienced with a Vista upgrade disk. The only other option is to try to bypass or logon to your computer. Is it a logon to windows logon or is it a network type logon? It sounds like it's a network logon based on the specified domain error. What options do you have on this logon screen? If you have the option to logon to the workstation only make sure you select it. That's all the ideas I have.
Yes it will work for windows 7 i remember an article on cnet about the install but no activation thingy untill reboot,then something about placing the disk in the drive & it detects & whatever its supposed to do then presto w7
It is a windows Log in. I don't get to put the installation code in at all. It reboots and comes to that windows log in screen everytime.
