WIndows 98 SE

    im tryimg to troubleshoot this computer for a friend of mine and it keeps giving a message to insert a "service disc"....anybody ever seen this before?? any help would be appreciated.

    is it a name brand computer or a clone?

    not sure theres no name on the case to say who made it, but they could jave cjanged the case for all i know, my friend said someone gave to them.....

    when the screen posts, does it post a logo or standard black screen??

    this one black screen..... if it were a name brand one like a dell, or ibm, or hp, then what would you haveto do.....just wondering for future situations like this but for a name brand one....

    it actually says service disk??

    yeah it does.... it says "please insert service disc"..... if this were a name brand system, ive never seen any PC come with a "Service Disc"

    i remember the micro channel computers did.

    oh this aint one of those dinosaurs......i mean its got me scratching my head right now..... i didnt see any viruses, but that doesnt mean that they didnt delete some before and they had already done their damage before they deleted them....

    try reloading windows ontop of self but run ccleaner 1st to get rid of any crap in windows or registry.
