Last night I was just doing my own little thing on the puter, and then I get some type of warning that I might have this virus, yadayada. Turn the comp off and go to sleepy, in the morning when I turn the comp on and log in, etc I got some Microsoft Windows box thing that said: " Windows Explorer has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem and try to restart the program. " Im running vista, btw. So when I click check online/restart or restart, it says " restarting windows " err something and the screen kind of loses everything on it and its just my wallpaper, then everything comes back..then the message comes back on =/. Same when I click the X. And I'm pretty sure something in my windows/system32 file is corrupt. Some one please help. . Oh, and on a different computer: The actual picture of the cursor will move for like a minute, then it will freeze, but I can still move this..invisible cursor around. Whats the problem? And can some one tell me if I can reformat (how to reformat the hard drive) and then load up windows Xp?
I do not know if this is your situation, but there is a microsoft.com article on this type of problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937093
Awesome thanks so much for that, I can't believe I didn't think of a system restore myself >.<. ty ty =]
But still, I think I have a virus. Does anyone know of any free, and very/good virus removing programs. Currently I have Windows Defender (vista), and Ad-Aware Se Personal.
You could take a look at afterdawns guide about malware removal: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/263784 You should have an anti-virus installed on your system at all times. AVG Anti-Virus Free is a good choice, it is Vista compatable.
