    HI,

So, my computer has recently been getting infected with spyware, trojans, and other malicious bullshit and its really pissing me off.

Im running XP on Tablet PC Edition 2005, under service pack 3. My computer is a Toshiba Portege M400, Intel T2500 @ 2.0 GHz, 0.99 GB ram.

I have Symantec Antivirus, Uniblue Powersuite (with Spyware remover), and Spybot Search and Destroy. Each one has been good at finding all the crap and doing its best to keep my computer running.

Though recently I keep getting Internet Explorer popups of virusremover2009, and other annoying things like it.

I tried to install Windows Malicious software remover, but as soon as I open it to extract the mrt.exe file, the extracted folder automatically disappears and I cant find it or consequently run the program at all. On top of this Windows Automatic Updates has ceased to work, and when I try to manually update or manually turn the application using services.msc it will cut off in about a minute. My rundll.32 has been having some errors upon shut down, and I occasionally have to go into task manager and kill all these infected processes that start popping up.

Any thoughts on this????? Im getting confused as to what to do at this point. Computer still functions well, but I'm concerned about Windows update and other stuff that I can't manually get to work.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

All the software you are using is crap.

Symantec may be improving, but they are always behind on updating definitions of current viruses. I find them always lacking when you compare it to free AV software and how frequently they update. It's also a resource hog.

Spybot Search and Destroy may be decent, but it too is severely lacking. Just like Norton, it's late to the party in malware/adware updates.

If you read the threads in this forum, you will see freeware options that are more effective.

ilovedrum, do a system restore to before the virus remover 2009 problem. what version of spybot are you using as i use 1.6.2? which norton version of anti-virus are you using? i prefer avg free edition as does both viruses & spyware. check in msconfig startup to see if virus remover 2009 is there & if so then uncheckit. also check in all programs startup that it is not listed & if so then delete it.

I was looking in one of the first few threads about a good anti-adware/spyware program so I downloaded the Lavasoft Ad-Adware program to help. So far its only found one thing. However my Symantec just found a few W.32 temporary internet browser files, a bunch of trojan.vundos, some downloaders, and other trojan horses. almost of the files are located within my system32 folder, local settings/temp folder, windows/temp folder, windows/temp/temporary internet files/content.IE5 folder, or within my rundll32.exe file.

Ive gotten the latest version of spybot, and I have the latest virus definitions for Symantec (not sure what version I have though, I think the most recent, I got it in 2006 - came with my computer) and ive got the registered version. I also tried restoring my computer to a few days last month, but for some reason my CPU was unable to restore itself.

How do I go about preventing these things from coming in besides finding them all after-the-fact. It seems as if you find them all, then they start coming back again, I dont really understand this.

As for my Windows update not working properly, could this have anything to do with a virus somehow blocking the access of the update?? Is there even a security update for Windows that could even stop this crap from happening?

So I've been able to find the main dll's that are causing my problems but I dont know exactly how to stop them.

Their within my rundll32.exe file, and once my anti-virus software finds and asks me to get rid of them, I do so and then proceed to restart my computer according to its necessity.

However, everytime I restart, a bunch of command windows pop up with rundll32 in the name and the viruses all rename themselves and move around, but they all have the same general name... heres what im talking about:

so, what should I go about doing with this????

Also, I've somehow misplaced the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) in my services.msc. Somehow those files are now missing, and I know this has something to do with my registry being messed around with and also probably the reason why my Automatic Update function is disabled. Its now gotten to the point where even when I try to turn AU to Automatic, it says "access denied" so i cant even do ANYTHING with it.

    please help!!
