Windows fax & scan

    I cant complete a fax it will send maybe 2 pages of a 4 page fax and then shut down with a fatal error message. Im running windows 7/64bit and using an older internal modem that I removed from my 10 year old HP desktop computer and installed it into my new emachine ( Acer ) ET1352G-03W. If you think the modem is the problem what modem should I buy? I can connect just fine but I just cant complete sending a fax.
