As you can see this is my first post here,i decided to register & post my problem here b/c there seems to be alot of intelligence on this site from what i've read.hope someone can help.I'm very new to computers and have never set one up myself and my HD needed to be reformatted and i'm tired of having someone else do everything for me so i tried it myself.I thought everything was fine until I checked my specs.I have a intel pentium 4 2.8 processor but my system info says "x86 family 15 model 4 stepping 1 genuine intel 2869 mhz"????????WTF is that?(excuse my lang.)and my system type says "x86 based".Now I'll be honest i dl a copy of windows xp sp2 pro and used that to install but i do have a LEGIT copy of xp sp2 home.Is there anyway to change this without erasing my HD and if so how?Any help would be more than appreciated.thx.
Yeah probaly saw that under device manage. That is normal. Check here. Go to start.. Right click my computer and left click on properties. Go to general and you should see ya cpu and windows version.:>
thanks alot ozzy for the reply.i did what you said and it says the correct info.Does this mean i dont need to change anything and my system is alright?I dont have a problem with the way my computer runs now,i was just wondering if this affected it at all,and if it does how do i go about changing it?And what does x68 system mean anyway? again, thanks for the reply.
No its normal. There is nothing to worry bout. I cant explain the technical part, but maybe another member can. But I think it has to do with the bus speed or something. But no worries. Leave everything alone and maybe ddp or ogs will come round and explain it. But I do believe it has to with the way windows is programed and a way for windows to recognize the cpu. Not sure.
THANKS ALOT OZZY,you've lifted alot off my shoulders.I thought for sure I screwed something up and would have to erase everything in HD again,I've already reinstalled most of my programs and everything. Man, i've done searches for almost every problem i've had and i've almost ALWAYS seen this site in google for every one,and you guys seem to always solve it.VERY NICE,newbs like me appreciate it very much.
what you have is right as you have an intel cpu running at 2.8ghz or 2800mhz. ghz is billion cycles a second, mhz is million cycles a second but 2800mhz is 2.8ghz.
