    Hi all..

My first post and already in trouble.

I'm not able to use Windows Installer when I insert a new program .I also can't uninstall anything also.

A window comes up that says I might be in safe mode (Not) or your Windows Installer is not installed correctly .

I can't get the updates ( See Below ) to install windows installer again so what am I to do.

Also..I have a legit XP home and haven't been able to get any updates.I been emailing back and forth with support and still nothing works. I'm entitled to get updates and they have to help and the been very good but we can't get it working. They verified that it's a legit .

    Thanks so much : )

PS: Here are the updates that won't install below..they are critical updates.

    Sypher,

All the comps in our home are legit, and I've had that problem as well before. So have lots of people.

There are a few things you can try.

Go to Windows\Downloaded Program Files, and look for the ActiveX that Windows Update site uses, and remove it. It might be called WUWebUpdateClass or something similar, can't remember, we're using MUWebUpdateClass (Microsoft Update).
Remove any duplicates of any other ActiveX control.

Look up the update from Microsoft's support site thru it's article number. They can all be downloaded separately if WU is still giving you problems. Sometimes it's the site itself, your connection to it...or even a bug/ad/spyware that is causing the problem.
