windows ME=problem?

    The other day i was shutting of my computer. when i turned my computer back on i cannot get to the windows log in screen because there is a black screen that says "Error loading operating system" i can still boot safe mode and everything but my question is how do i get to my windows login screen again? much help would be appreciated! thanks

    Can you do System Restore? If so, restore to a date before this problem happened.

    try last known working configuration on the menu about safe mode & others.

    i cant try to do that because i cannot even boot safe mode the menu saying "Error loading operating system" comes up before i can even try to do anything. anyone got any other ideas? thanks much help would be appreciated!

    do you have or can get a spare hd to load windows on if want info off sick hd?

    off line the sick hd so can load windows onto spare hd & then copy info off sick hd. after that is done then format sick hd to see if any bad spots on it & if good then clone spare hd onto sick hd.
